Sideshow Lists Exclusive Hot Toys Marvel and G.I. JOE Figures for Pre-Order

As the official distributor for Hot Toys in the US, Sideshow has access to exclusive figures and accessories that other retailers might not be able to carry. They’ve just listed two figures from Hot Toys’ “Toy Fairs” exclusives (figures that were shown and in some cases made available to order at various toy shows around the world) and two Iron Man 3 figures that each come with an exclusive accessory.

I have not yet seen Sideshow list the “evil” Superman figure from Superman III that Hot Toys had revealed with Star Spangled Cap and Joe Colton.

Hot Toys Reveals Three New Figures at ACGHK – The Crow, Cloud from The Storm Riders, and Tony Stark (Mechanic) from Iron Man 3

The Crow 16th scale Eric Draven Collectible Figure 1 The Storm Riders - Cloud (Comic Version) Collectible Figure 1 Iron Man 3 Tony Stark (The Mechanic) Collectible Figurine 1

While Hot Toys unveiled a slew of upcoming figures at San Diego Comic-Con, they still had some in the tank for Animation-Comic-Game Hong Kong 2013 this past weekend.

  • The Crow – Brandon Lee as Eric Draven – believe it or not, I’ve never seen the movie – should I? Having only seen screen caps of the movie, it’s hard for me to judge how good the likeness is. What’s the consensus here?
  • Cloud from The Storm Riders – likewise for this figure, I’ve never read the manga, which (according to my quick internet search) has been running since 1989. Wow. For fans, I hope that Hot Toys will get around to releasing Wind, the other main character from the story. Not sure if this one will get a U.S. release.
  • Tony Stark in his mechanic gear from Iron Man 3 – with the hoodie and sunglasses I’ll think of this as the Unabomber Tony. It’s only fair that if Hot Toys is going to make half a dozen or so Iron Man armors that got a few seconds of screen time that they make the outfit that we see Tony Stark in for most of the movie. But it does beg the question – if he could call all those armors for the final fight, why didn’t he call them sooner?

I haven’t checked for pre-orders yet, but I’d check out Sideshow first since they’re the U.S. distributor, especially if you’re looking for the exclusive items, which both the Crow (weather vane) and Tony (homemade wrist repulsor) have.

Hasbro Reveals New Black Series Figures at Star Wars Celebration Europe

Star Wars Celebration Star Wars Celebration1

It feels like we just got with Hasbro unveiling a bunch of upcoming Star Wars Black Series figures at San Diego Comic-Con. But there’s no rest for the weary (in this case, Hasbro) – they just unveiled more Star Wars figures from both of its Black Series lines at Star Wars Celebration Europe. In the six-inch line, it’s Obi-Wan Kenobi from Revenge of the Sith (we got a preview of Obi-Wan in the Hasbro booth at SDCC), a good old-fashioned army builder Stormtrooper, and Luke Skywalker from Empire Strikes Back. Presumably these are from the third wave, which should hit retail in 1Q 2014.

In the 3 3/4-inch line, it’s Mace Windu, Darth Plagueis, Vizam, and Commander Neyo. Mace features Clone Trooper gauntlets in which he kicked ass in Clone Wars.

Play Imaginative Reveals Super Alloy 1/12 Scale War Machine Mark 2

Play Imaginative Super Alloy 6-Inch War Machine Mk2 1

This is the second of Play Imaginative’s reveals for its 1/12 scale Super Alloy Iron Man figures. It’s the War Machine Mark 2 – the armor that was featured in an early draft of the Iron Man 3 script but didn’t make the final cut. It joins the Mark 42 armor in the line. Presumably, we’ll see a reveal for the Iron Patriot soon.

War Machine is available for pre-order on the YesAnime website for $104.99. And yes, that’s a lot, but keep in mind this is upwards of 70% diecast, with LED lights and some pretty good articulation. I guess it’s $5 cheaper than the Mark 42 because it didn’t get any screen time. The Iron Patriot, which should use the same tooling as this figure, will go for the same price as the Mark 42, $109.99.
