Hasbro (Return of) Marvel Legends Wave 3 Deadpool – Evolution of a Picture

I’ve probably mentioned one or two times that I’m a Deadpool fan. And while Daniel Way was writing Deadpool, there was no better Deadpool around than Rick Remender’s Deadpool in Uncanny X-Force. (I’m gonna have to check out the new Deadpool now that Way’s run is finally done.) In the first issue of Uncanny X-Force, there’s this scene where Deadpool is standing on top of the head of this huge statue spewing out a toxic green waterfall from its mouth.

Why did the nickel jump off the building but the dime didn’t? [Deadpool dives!] Dime had more cents.

That panel by Jerome Opena had such a dynamic look, that when I got the RoML 3 Deadpool (yay, X-Force colors!) I wanted to see if I could do it justice in a picture. I thought I hit it in the first shot… but I’ll show you how it evolved during the process to result in what you see above.

The Four Horsemen Ride Into El Paso Comic Con

Our pal Joe Amaro sent us pics of the Four Horsemen’s booth at El Paso Comic Con. The 4H’s Shane Dittsworth and Owen “O-Dawg” Oertling were on site. For fans of Seventh Kingdom, Gothitropolis, and the Masters of the Universe 200X line, there’s some great shots of 2-ups that I’ve been lucky to see in person – but I’ve never gotten a good look at the backs of the prototypes before, though, and there’s some great details in these shots. The El Paso Times also has some local coverage of EP-Con, including a couple of pics of O-Dawg in action.

Regarding the Manta Raider that Joe is working on with Rudy Obrero – I checked in with Joe recently and he said he’s still working on them, and will give out more details on how to get your hands on the custom vehicle when he’s 100% on the details.

Hasbro (Return of) Marvel Legends Wave 3 Punisher Quick Pics

To be perfectly honest, I was hoping that I would get Blade in the set of Hasbro’s (Return of) Marvel Legends wave 3 that I pre-ordered. It’s not that this Punisher is a bad figure; on the contrary, it’s quite a good figure that’s also a dramatic improvement over the last Punisher that Hasbro made in Legends. It’s just that I’ve got enough Punishers to fill a 6-issue crossover between Uncanny X-Force (who meet the Punisher in the future), alternate reality hopping Exiles (who meet a version of Punisher in every dimension they visit), and a Punisher vs. Punisher one-shot (cause that’s at least two more Punishers).

Hasbro Marvel Universe Avengers Black Widow Sure is Purty!

I saw the 3.75-inch Avengers Black Widow at the Hasbro Preview Night before last year’s New York Comic Con – the lighting in the pictures I took was a bit harsh, but I remember thinking that the painted prototype was not too flattering to ScarJo. Usually the hand painted protos are the ideal, and the production pieces lose a little luster going through the factory assembly line. So I was surprised the other day at Talbot’s (a local toy, hobby, and bike store) to see that the Avengers Black Widow figure actually turned out much prettier in production than the prototype I saw last year. Still not quite a match for ScarJo, but I wouldn’t expect this in such a small figure.

Great job, Hasbro (and factory!)

Diamond Select Toys Silver Surfer Bottle Opener – Best Galactus Cosplay Accessory Ever?

I saw this Silver Surfer bottle opener and immediately thought of that awesome Galactus cosplayer – anyone have a link? This could be the perfect accessory for even the casual Galactus wannabe, although “I’M THIRSTY!” doesn’t quite have the same ring as “I HUNGER!”

Maybe “BEER ME, MY HERALD”… Nah, I didn’t think so.
