I’m very excited that the Four Horsemen have been able to jump start production on Gothitropolis. Scarabus looks great, but I’d like to find out what’s going on with the Gothitropolis variants, as there were a couple of pretty cool ones that were in the works.

The winning character of the 2008 FANtastic Exclusive vote, and the main character from the Four Horsemen’s property – Gothitropolis has finally gone into production! SCARABUS APPROACHES!

We received the first tooled samples last week, as you can see from the photos below, they look spectacular!

As production moves along, we should have a better idea of when the figures will be finished and ready to ship, but we expect to have things ready to go around the beginning of 2011.

Check out the images below, and be sure to drop by the new Gothitropolis section of the FANtastic Exclusive message boards to discuss the evil that is Scarabus!!

A shot of Scarabus with his evil little minions, the TIME KEEPERS! The Time Keepers are available RIGHT NOW through our very own online retail outlet, Store Horsemen!

And this final shot shows Scarabus hanging out with some already produced characters from the Four Horsemen’s property, 7th Kingdom. From Scarabus’ right are Xetheus, Queen Alluxandra, Scarabus (with Time Keeper) and the mighty Ramathorr! Ramathorr & Queen Alluxandra are still available through our online retail outlet, Store Horsemen!

Masters of the Universe Classics Chief Carnivus

Chief Carnivus 01 (1200x675).jpg

I have come to dread the months that Sandman doesn’t pick up the Masters of the Universe Classics figure(s), because it comes to me take the pictures for AFP. And honestly, with MatthewK producing awesome shots each month, including yet another new custom diorama for Chief Carnivus, I’m at quite a loss for what to do that he hasn’t covered. But I’ll give it a shot.

Marvel Universe Masterworks Galactus and Silver Surfer

Brace yourselves, AFP readers! Today we’ll take a look at Hasbro’s 19-inch Marvel Universe Masterworks Galactus! Before last year’s announcement of this large-sized figure, the chances of getting large figures like these seemed slim. Toybiz created some of the tallest Build-a-Figures like the Sentinel (16 inches tall) and Apocalypse (15 inches). When Hasbro took over, they veered towards smaller BAFs like the Blob and Ronan. They did do a Fin Fang Foom (about 15 inches), spread over two Hulk-themed waves, but since then have stopped doing Marvel BAFs. They also released the Wal-Mart exclusive Marvel Universe Gigantic Battles, which included some large figures like Giant Man and the Skrull Giant, each packaged with a smaller Marvel Universe figure, the giants were around 12 inches tall, still considerably shorter than the Sentinel and Apocalypse.

It seems the Gigantic Battles were a testing ground to see if there’s interest in large figures, as we now have this 19-inch Galactus arriving at Toys R Us shelves – and available online too! Forgive my excitement – as much as I love the older Toybiz Marvel Legends BAF Galactus (he was the first of his kind) and have fond memories of assembling him, I am happy to see Hasbro make a larger, more imposing Galactus!

Ok, that’s enough gushing, onto the review!

Is DC Universe Classics Wave 17 the “Rainbow Lantern” Wave?

Online retailers have just put up their pre-order pages for DC Universe Classics wave 17 – see the order pages for AFP sponsors Big Bad Toy Store and Enchanted Toy Chest, for example – and while they are staying mum, possibly until mid-January, the speculation on the internet about the line-up is running rampant.
