Don’t Miss the Avengers Week Giveaways at Sideshow

Sideshow Avengers Week Social Media Giveaways

I’d love to take a tour of Sideshow Collectibles giveaway storage room – they’ve always got great contests and giveaways underway! This week has been no exception. Leading up to the Avengers: Age of Ultron opening today, they’ve been running Avengers-related giveaways for most of the week. In case you’ve missed any of them, I’ve collected them here:

These contests require that you follow Sideshow’s social media accounts, so be sure to like and follow them on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.

They’ve also got a Captain America Premium Format Figure going up later this morning on Facebook. I’ll send an update out later today (probably in the afternoon after seeing the movie), but if you can’t wait, just keep an eye on the Sideshow Contest and Giveaway page.

Good luck, and happy assembling!

Weekend Toy Run: The AFP “Obey” T-Shirt Edition

Obey Tribute Tee

With the Avengers: Age of Ultron movie opening today (woo woo!) I felt a tidal wave of megalomania coming over me. So what did I do? Naturally, I designed a t-shirt to soothe my overloaded positronic synapses. The “Obey” t-shirt is available on the until-now unknown Fan Tribute T-shirts page on AFP.

You see, I’ve had these feelings before, and designing t-shirts has been the only cure. Until now, I’ve never had any desire to make my t-shirts public – but I figure if I sell enough of them now (it would require enslaving the whole planet to enforce my robotic will) I’d be able to pay for our movie tickets to Avengers: Age of Ultron. After all, I’m taking my wife and my mother-in-law, and we’re seeing it in 3D. I might even be able to spring for some popcorn, too! 😉

If this is not motivation enough for you, our T-shirt partner has a free shipping code (FREE2LOVE) if you buy two items. This applies across the entire Spreadshirt site, so feel free to head over there… after you Obey, of course. Happy shopping, and happy assembling!

Funko Reveals New Garbage Pail Kids

Funko Garbage Pail Kids

It must be #ThrowbackThursday. Funko has gone back 30 years to bring us back some Garbage Pail Kids. They’ve got 3.75-inch figures in a blind boxed format – which is the closest thing you can get to the trading card experience (except for trading cards, of course). But here, you’re getting your favorite GPKs in three dimensions, in vinyl.

And for one of the most rare and valuable Garbage Pail Kids, Funko has made Adam Bomb in 10-inch vinyl. And for a far cry cheaper than what he’s gone for in card format. Nasty!

Masters of the Universe Classics Beasts of Burden One Day Sale 5/1

Up to 20% off Battle Cat, Battle Lion, Griffin, and Arrow

Mattycollector MOTUC Beasts of Burden sale

Mattel is holding another one-day sale to help clear out remaining inventory. Starting tomorrow at 9AM PST, four Masters of the Universe Classics steeds will go on sale at Mattycollector. Individually, they’ll be 15% off, but if you buy three or more, the discount gets bumped up to 20% off. The scaling discount works in any combination. That means if you want to build out your flock of Griffins for Skeletor, Beast Man, and the rest of the Evil Warriors, that’s fair game. Want an army of pastel-colored horses? You have the power!

Personally, I think this opens up some options if you wanted to use Battle Lion’s armor on Battle Cat to complete a 200X style steed for He-Man, for example. It’s still a steep asking price though. Normally, Battle Cat and the Griffin are $35, while Battle Lion and Arrow are $42. The Beasts of Burden sale will go for 24 hours, ending Saturday at 9AM PST.

Note: Our email digests are sent out once a day (we don’t want to clog your inbox when we post more than that), and some subscribers can miss out on these one day only sales. Please consider following AFP on Facebook, Google+, and Twitter for more timely updates. Happy shopping!

Webswipe: NECA Unveils Con Exclusive Terminator 2 Endoskeleton – San Diego Comic-Con Unofficial Blog

Glow-in-the-dark Terminator is homage to the classic Kenner line

NECA SDCC exclusive Terminator 2 Retro Endoglow Endoskeleton

NECA is going retro with a couple of its Con exclusives. The SDCC Unofficial Blog got the first look at the Terminator 2 Retro Endoglow Endoskeleton (that’s a mouthful) which will debut at San Diego Comic-Con this July. While the packaging harkens back to the Kenner Terminator 2 line from the 90’s, the figure itself has got modern-day sculpt and articulation from NECA. Even if you’re not a fan of the GITD gimmick, it’s just a paint app that’s unnoticeable in normal light, so this figure should fit in nicely with your Terminator figures from previous NECA runs. And since Terminator: Genisys opens this July, with the iconic Terminator endoskeletons virtually unchanged from their earlier incarnations, this could be the start of your Terminator army if you don’t have one yet.

Action Figure Insider revealed the other Kenner retro exclusive – a nifty translucent Ambush Predator that includes a couple of interchangeable vac-metal masks. Both the Terminator and Predator exclusives will be available at SDCC, other regional cons, and presumably online. Terminated.
