Hot Toys Announces Thor: The Dark World Figure

Hot Toys Thor the Dark World 01

With Thor: the Dark World opening in the US a week from Friday, it’s about time that Hot Toys reveals its plans for the movie. And, not wanting to disappoint, they’ve got two versions of Thor heading our way. The first is the armored version of Thor. I’ve got the Thor from the first movie, and can see the subtle improvements in the head sculpt – this is more representative of Chris Hemsworth than the first one and the subsequent Avengers version. Perhaps not having to accommodate a helmeted look helps.

Thor is available to pre-order from Sideshow Collectibles. He’s $229.99 and due September 2014. We’ll have the second version up shortly.

Border Patrol: Life-Sized Chucky, 1/6 Scale Dutch, and 1/12 Scale Goldberg

I guess you could call this a TV and movie edition of Border Patrol.

Life-Sized Chucky by Dream Rush and MIKE MSR – this one of a kind life-sized (33-inches tall) figure was customized by a professional special effects make-up artist in the movie business – the auction is already approaching the $1,200 mark and there’s still close to five days left – and I thought the Mezco Chucky was scary – ends Nov 03, 2013 06:00:57 PST

In AFP’s Border Patrol, we scour active eBay auctions for customized action figures that you won’t want to let slip by!

Customizers, don’t forget to check out the submission guidelines for CustomCon 36.

Captain Harlock Collectible Figure with Throne of Arcadia

Captain Harlock Collectible Figure 09

When I was a kid, my mom would take me to the Philippines, where I’d spend a lot of time with my cousins, who were a bit older than me and big-time anime fans. We’d get a lot of the Japanese shows on TV, just like Looney Toons would show up on TV on the weekend mornings or in the afternoon after school. I know I’ve seen a fair amount of Space Pirate Captain Harlock, but for the life of me I can’t really remember any of it.

Captain Harlock will have two versions to pre-order. One is just the figure, including his weapons and Mr. Bird. The other includes all that plus the Throne of Arcadia. If you recall, this is the same setup that Hot Toys employed for their two upcoming diecast Robocop releases – one with his “dreaming” chair, the other without.

I might have to re-familiarize myself with the series to know if I am interested in the Hot Toys figures. Amazon has the complete Captain Harlock TV series available on DVD. And apparently there is a new Space Pirate Captain Harlock animated feature that’s getting decent nerd-cred reviews and looks pretty too.

Hot Toys Announces AVP Celtic Predator

Hot Toys AVP Celtic Predator 14

Hot Toys is back with (surprise) not an Iron Man figure – it’s the Celtic Predator from the Aliens vs. Predators franchise. As Hot Toys has been known to do, this is actually a new version of the Celtic Predator they released a few years back, with new and improved features, like LED lights and interchangeable mandibles when he’s unmasked.

As much as I’d love to have a Hot Toys Predator (the Celtic Predator is available to pre-order at Sideshow), this is just whetting my appetite for Bandai’s MonsterArts AVP figures.

Did Hot Toys Reveal Christopher Reeve Clark Kent at Battle of the Toys?

Remember that Hot Toys Avengers Shawarma diorama, in which we first saw a Bruce Banner figure? At the time, I thought Hot Toys was torturing us with a custom figure that we’d never have the chance to add to our collections. But then they revealed that the puny Banner would be an official Hot Toys release (although when, your guess is as good as mine).

Think they’ll do the same with this Christopher Reeve Clark Kent?
