Hot Toys Ten Year Anniversary Expo

It’s the ten year anniversary of Hot Toys, and to celebrate they held a celebration event in Tokyo over the past couple of days, including having a few exclusives for sale. I would have loved to go, but did the next best thing – find pics of the event online!

In addition to having a bunch of figures on display, Hot Toys announced some brand new licenses for 2011:

  • Captain America: The First Avenger
  • Pirates of the Carribean: On Stranger Tides
  • Metal Gear Solid
  • Sucker Punch
  • Batman (the 1989 movie)
  • Indiana Jones

Diamond Select Toys Thor Movie Minimates

In Minimates format, these guys look fine to fit in with my comics-based Marvel Minimates – and that Destroyer is just like his comics counterpart. I am guessing that’s SHIELD Agent Phil Coulson (who appeared in the Iron Man movies) in the back.

Thor Movie Minimates

Now available for order are these Thor Movie Minimates. Includes Thor, Loki, The Destroyer, Odin, Jane Foster and a Frost Giant!

Marvel Universe 2011 Wave 1 Carded Pics

At the end of 2009, because Hasbro’s Marvel Universe line had performed so well, we got the first series of 2010 . It’s the same this year – the first series of MU from 2011 is on shelves now – I picked these up between Toys R Us and Target.

For those of you who are wondering who the cardback artist is for 2011 – Dave Vonner told us that it was none other than Olivier Coipel. It’s too bad the modern version of Thor came out this year – it’d be nice to have a Thor cardback in Marvel Universe by Coipel.

Also, notice the Mutant Detected tag on Captain Marvel’s cardback? That must be a nod to the upcoming Masterworks Sentinel.

Iron Man 2 Mark V 6-Inch Exclusive Figure In Stock at Walmart.com

I never found the Wal-Mart exclusive Iron Man Mark IV 6-inch figure with the interchangeable Tony Stark head, but I am thinking about picking up the Mark V, which is available right now on Walmart.com. The briefcase armor was one of the coolest scenes in the movie (too bad it got overplayed in the trailers), and the briefcase accessory, while cool, is just begging for a Tony Stark figure in his civvies.

Iron Man 2 Movie Series Action Figure: Iron Man Mark V – $12.97

If Tony Stark were to try carrying the Iron Man Mark IV with him everywhere he went, he would need a tractor-trailer and a team of engineers just to maintain it in its ready state. That’s why he invented the highly portable Mark V. The suit is so compact it fits into a simple suitcase. Light and powerful, the Mark V armor lets Iron Man go anywhere, any time. Prepare to “save the world” with this iron-clad hero and his transport case accessory.

Iron Man 2 Movie Series Action Figure: Iron Man Mark V:

  • Comes with a transport case and four extra “pulsor” hand accessories
