Weekend Toy Run: Marvel Monday Brings Us 25% Off the Marvel Store and Marvel Legends Allfather on eBay

I’m not sure “Marvel Monday” is really a thing, but it certainly feels that way with these two updates. First, the official Marvel Store is running an up-to-25% off deal, today only, with the “MARVELMONDAY” code. You have to add $100 to your cart to qualify for the full 25%, or $50 for 15% – you’ll qualify for free shipping too. Marvel Select is already on sale for $20 each, but where it can really pay off is in the collectibles section, where that 25% off makes a big dent in Hot Toys items.

And, thanks to our pal Rodney, who gave us the heads-up that pre-orders for the Marvel Legends Allfather series have started popping up on eBay. This listing for the Allfather has all seven figures (Captain Marvel, Sentry, Hawkeye, Machine Man, Scarlet Witch, Thor, and Iron Fist) up for $159. That’s not that bad of a deal when you consider free shipping – 9 sets left as of this morning. Happy shopping!

Weekend Toy Run: Selected Marvel Legends on Sale at Amazon.com

The holidays are a great time to pick up figures on sale as retailers look to clear slower movers at the end of the year. So while you won’t see any of the harder to find figures on this list, you may be able to fill some gaps in your collection or get some fodder for customizing projects. Here are some of the lowest-priced Marvel Legends at Amazon. I’ve picked out the ones that qualify for Prime shipping – even if you’re not a Prime member, getting over $25 in your cart will qualify you for free 2-day shipping.

There’s a lot more Marvel Legends at Amazon on sale – I just picked ones I saw under $12. Happy shopping!

Weekend Toy Run: Target’s Marvel Legends 3-Pack is NOT Sold Out (Yet)

We wrote last week about the Target exclusive Marvel Legends 3-Pack with Captain America, Ms. Marvel, and Radioactive Man going up on the Target.com site. Well, that moved pretty quickly but still shows as in stock. I’ve been on the road and not been able to follow up, but long-time reader Rodney emailed to let us know of another way to get the figures, and for an even better deal!

Target has listed the exclusive Marvel Legends 3-pack on its eBay store. Target has it listed as a Buy-It-Now at $50 (no price gouging!) and tops it off with free shipping. Now, I bought my set on their regular website last week, so I’m not sure this isn’t some weird situation where they are selling stuff that they no longer have – but if you’re still on the hunt, it wouldn’t hurt to check it out.

Let me know if this pans out for you. Big thanks to Rodney for sharing this!

Captain America® Marvel Legends Infinite Series Figure 3-Pack 02

Our good friend Paul gave us the heads up that the Target exclusive Captain America Marvel Legends Infinite Series Figure 3-Pack is in stock at Target.com. The 3-pack includes Cap (natch), Ms. Marvel on the heavy hitter female body, and Radioactive Man on the heavy hitter male body.

Cap is a reissue, but comes with both a masked and unmasked head. I also think the previous figure came with a vest, while this one has a harness.

Soapbox Sunday: Latest Mattycollector Sale Shows Shortcomings; How to Turn it Around

Mattycollector Shortcomings

Remember the good (or bad, depending how you fared) old days when there were toys that you actually wanted to buy on Mattycollector on their monthly sales dates? Those toys would sell out in hours, sometimes minutes. And while that truly meant missed opportunities through lost sales, the quick sell-outs became the barometer for successful products.

Fast forward to today. We’re a couple of days past the Mattycollector sale for October, and looking at the sale page, there’s not a single item on the page that’s sold out. There’s not even a single item that’s marked with the “Almost Gone” tag that Mattel would add to give you a sense of urgency to grab up those soon to be sold out toys. And for a company whose marketing team is so fond of saying “We’ll keep making them as long as you keep buying them,” I’ve got to wonder how much longer Mattel will keep making them, because we certainly not buying them – at least not like we used to.
