The Medicom RAH 1/6 scale C-3P0 and R2-D2 figures, due in the 3rd quarter this year, are now available for pre-order. Both feature LED lights and articulation. R2-D2’s 3rd leg is retractable, and he can stand on 2 legs.

Hasbro held its Collector Briefing yesterday, and this morning I’ll cover the update from the Star Wars team. (Yesterday evening I posted updates for the Marvel properties – Iron Man 2, Marvel Universe, Spider-Man, and Super Hero Squad – and G.I. Joe.)
For Star Wars, 2010 will be a more focused year – the comic book packs and Galactic Heroes Cinema Scenes will go on hiatus in the fall – but will still be a celebration of the brand. This year is the 30th anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back, and to commemorate that, Hasbro is relaunching the Vintage Collection of modern figures with vintage-styled card backs. Hasbro has shared some pictures of upcoming products across its boys toys lines – GI Joe, Marvel, Star Wars, and Transformers. This month, the Marvel team comes through with new images from Marvel Universe 2010 Wave 2, new Spider-Man, and Super Hero Squad. Thanks to the good guys at OAFE for tweeting this, because I probably wouldn’t have seen it otherwise. Although the write-up is a little ambiguous, there looks to be some articulation on this 1/6 scale “statue” of R2-D2. From the pics, it looks like the dome swivels, and all the panels on it can be closed – I am hoping that’s true of the panels on the body too. With all the attachments, this looks like a great piece for any Star Wars collector.
