Toy Fair 2015: Mezco Reveals One:12 Collective Mutant Leader from The Dark Knight Returns

Mezco is holding a pre-Toy Fair preview this morning (sadly, I can’t be there) and teased this on their Facebook page – the Mutant Leader from The Dark Knight Returns, for their One:12 Collective line. I think Buzzy Fret put it best when he emailed me early this morning: “Holy crap!!”

Can’t wait to see what else they have in store for us this year – we’ll get a closer look at Toy Fair in just a little over a week.

"You don't get it boy...this isn't a mud-hole...it's an operating table. And I'm the surgeon."

Just gearing up for our Pre ToyFair Event tomorrow, enjoy!

Mezco Shares Detailed Look at One:12 Collective Batman from The Dark Knight Returns

Mezco has shared some new high res pics of their One:12 Collective Dark Knight Returns Batman, including an “x-ray” shot that shows just how super-articulated the figure is underneath that black and gray (or dark blue and gray, for the Mezco exclusive) batsuit. This figure has been at the top of my most wanted list since Mezco introduced the One:12 Collective line at San Diego Comic-Con this year.

Weekend Toy Run: Hot Toys Batman and Robin (1960s TV Series) Bundle and More

Hot Toys Batman (1966) 02

If you’ve been on the fence about picking up the Hot Toys Batman and Robin from the ’60s television show, you might have found the right weekend to do so. Right now, Sideshow Collectibles is offering a bundled deal for the pair – add the Dynamic Duo to your cart and you’ll get another 5% off the discounted price (already almost $40 off) plus free shipping and extra rewards points (to the tune of $35.55). Batman and Robin are also on sale individually, but in this case I can’t see getting one without the other, especially with the 5% kicker.

But maybe the ’60s isn’t your thing – if not, they are also offering another bundle for the Sideshow Collectibles Batman and Hot Toys Bank Robber Joker. Both are awesome figures more suited for your dark and gritty Batman tastes. You’ll get 15% off the regular price for each and free shipping.

These bundles expire at the end of the month, and the free shipping is for domestic U.S. shipping only. Happy shopping!

NYCC 2014: Mezco Adds a Bad-Ass Judge Dredd to One:12 Collective

Mezco One:12 Collective Judge Dredd

I fell in love with Mezco’s take on Batman from the Dark Knight Returns back at SDCC, and they’ve knocked it out of the park again with Judge Dredd. Dredd is the latest reveal from their One:12 Collective, a multi-license, mixed media, six-inch scale, super-articulated action figure line.

It’s an ambitious undertaking right from the start. It’s tough to get fabric apps to work well in this scale, and to do it over a super-articulated body is a daunting prospect. Batman was shown in a variety of poses and held up pretty well in this regard. Dredd, on the other hand, has been limited to more vanilla stances – so while I’m certain Mezco will get it right, I’m wondering if they’ve still got more work to do to get the figure looking right in more action-heavy poses.

Not sold? Consider this – Mez hinted heavily at SDCC that a six-inch scale Lawmaster could be on the way. Regardless, I’m in – just waiting for Mezco to put Dredd up for pre-order. Mezco recently announced that pre-orders on Batman have been brisk with nearly half the pre-order allocation sold in the first day – despite a $65 price tag – so you might want to get on that now or risk a sell-out.

SDCC 2014: Hot Toys Batman / Dark Knight

SDCC 2014 Hot Toys Dark Knight Bat Signal

I know what you were thinking – with Chris Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy wrapped up, our wallets might get a break from Hot Toys Batman stuff. At least until Batman vs. Superman comes out, and because a lot of us hate the idea of Batfleck, maybe that break might go longer. Well, in a word… WRONG.

Hot Toys is making the most of the Dark Knight license adding multi-packs, including a Bruce Wayne and Alfred Pennyworth set, and a Robin, Commissioner Gordon, and Bat Signal (oddly called the “Batman Spotlight”) set. And, to top it off, we’re also getting a Batman from the Arkham City game from Hot Toys – because we need that character in every single scale known to action figure collectors.

I forgot to get pics of the Hot Toys Bank Robber Joker version 2, available at Sideshow as a summer “Toy Fairs” exclusive. I’ll go back tomorrow.
