Square Enix Play Arts Kai and SOTA Street Fighter Pics

Square Enix Street Fighter

I really do love the Square Enix Play Arts Kai Street Fighter figures. They’ve got great sculpts and paint, and the articulation scheme really gives you some awesome poseability. As I was fiddling with the four that have come out, Chun Li, Akuma, Ryu, and Cammy, I was reminded how much I loved the SOTA Street Fighter figures, and how many of those came out during its all too short toy lifespan. Even though their scales don’t match, I wanted a shot of them together, so I put this together, showing off the newcomers from Square Enix in the foreground, with the SOTA line as the backdrop.

DC Universe Classics Watchmen Club Black Freighter 2013 Press Pics

DC Universe compatible comics-based Watchmen figures were one of the most exciting reveals for me at San Diego Comic-Con, and a limited, six figure subscription is a great way to deliver them. Club Black Freighter will deliver one of the modern “Crimebusters” every other month. Mattel just posted their official pics of Rorschach and Dr. Manhattan on their Facebook page.

  • Rorschach – Hurm…
  • Dr. Manhattan – He can’t prevent the future. To him, it’s already happened.

Club Black Frieghter [sic] is in full effect! Only 4 more days to sign up on Mattycollector.com to get all 6 of Mattel’s comic styled Watchmen figures, one new figure approx every other month throughout 2013!

And all of these figures will come on an AMAZING Watchmen package based on the Absolute Watchmen box. Frank Varela our collector package designer extraordinare is hard at work on what may be his greatest packaged execution ever! Images of the final package as soon as we have it. But for now, here are the first two figures Rorschach with his grapple gun and base and Dr. Manhatten (base not shown, but same as Roschach).

All the Watchmen figures use the same “shared part” system as DCUC/Club Infinite Earth so they will fit right in with your exisiting collection!

Diamond Select Toys Marvel vs. Capcom Minimates Series 3 are a Blast

Hats off to whoever has been taking the pictures for the recent Diamond Select Toys reveals. These shots of Marvel vs. Capcom Minimates Series 3 capture all the fun that can be had with Minimates. There’s some real dream match-ups here.

And if this shot doesn’t sell you on a Minimates MODOK, I don’t know what will.

Hot Toys Captain America, Jim Gordon, and Angelica Exclusives Available for Pre-Order

I was watching Captain America: The First Avenger on Netflix last night, and was reminded during Cap’s awesome rescue of the Howling Commandos and the survivors of the 107th that the Hot Toys “Toy Fairs Exclusives” of Rescue Cap, SWAT team Jim Gordon and Angelica from the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise that they announced during San Diego Comic-Con were now all available for order in the US through Sideshow Toys.

The only downside is that now I have that USO song stuck in my head. Maybe an Iron Man movie can fix that. 🙂

ThreeA Toys Halo Figures On Sale Now

I just bought a Halo figure from 3A Toys for $170 (list price is $200 but I am a 3AA member and get a discount) and I haven’t played a Halo game in years. I guess I’m pretty enamored with the Spartan armor – I started with McFarlane and got mesmerized with Square Enix’s Play Arts Kai Spartans. And now 3A had to come along and feed my addiction with some 1/6 scale versions. Let’s face it – with fiber optic lighting, magnetized armor and weapons, and some kick-ass sculpting and paint apps, I really didn’t stand a chance.

Commander Carter will be available at specialty retailers, but the Spartan MKV Commando will only be available at bambalandstore.com for a limited time – that’s the one I picked up.
