Finally, here’s our Marvel Legends Report for NYTF 2018 – all the reveals, booth pics, official PR pics, and teases – all in one spot. While Hasbro shared much of what’s to come throughout 2018, they still held back enough to keep us in suspense. Of all the waves covered in their Entertainment Brand Preview, all but one or two still have figures to reveal.
We’ll cover them in the order they were discussed and include the pics we shot in the booth and the official PR shots Hasbro shared with us. Read on!
What’s clear coming out of this year’s Hasbro Collector Preview is that the Marvel team’s decision to rebrand the Marvel Legends to tie to mass media has been a success. This year, Legends is being driven not only by three movie releases in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but also by its extended TV properties on ABC and Netflix and several animated shows. The result is a healthy line-up that spans mass retail releases and exclusives for both traditional and online specialty retailers.
And what about those properties that still fall outside of Marvel Studios control? Hasbro is still finding a way to leverage them with comics-based figures.
I am on the show floor at San Diego Comic-Con. To get you the pics you want as fast as I can, I’m hooking you into my Instagram feed. If you’re on Instagram, follow me at afpron – that’s for AFP Ron, not AF Pron :). Stay tuned for better pictures soon.
I was pretty impressed when we first saw the Capcom Lost Planet prototypes a couple months back. With the pre-order nearly here, I am even more astounded how representative of the video game the Merc figure has turned out to be. That’s the promo picture on the left, and a render from the Lost Planet 2 game on the right. The pre-order goes live on Bambaland tomorrow, June 21, at 9PM EST.
There’s nearly 60 items on sale, from toy makers like Funko, Diamond Select Toys, Bif Bang Pow!, Underground Toys, Diamond Select Toys, and even Mattel (who hasn’t sold exclusives through Entertainment Earth, as far as I can recall.)
