We’ve got the second batch of exclusives and new product announcements from LEGO for San Diego Comic-Con. This week has items from their DC and Scooby Doo licenses. (The PR kit we received has Roy Harper marked as a Marvel Super Heroes release – maybe we’ll get to see who actually proofreads their news! :D)

We’ve also updated last week’s SDCC Lego digest with additional packaged shots, and we’ll have more LEGO updates leading up to the big show. Cheers!

Weekend Toy Run: Pre-Order the Marvel Select Ant-Man Unmasked Exclusive

Marvel Select Ant-Man unmasked exclusive

We’re three weeks away from the opening of Ant-Man, and the hype machine is in full effect with a ton of media coverage, including a fourth TV spot, “Become the Hero.”  And while we’ve seen a bunch of Ant-Man toys up for pre-order, we haven’t seen one with Paul Rudd’s likeness on it – until now.

The unmasked version of the Marvel Select Ant-Man is available to pre-order now. Like the more widespread release, the 7-inch figure will come with his masked head, 3 pairs of interchangeable hands, and a 1.5-inch Ant-Man, but the unmasked Paul Rudd head will be exclusive to Marvel / Disney stores and will be featured on the figure in package. And bonus – it’s due to be released by the movie opening date of July 17.

SDCC 2015: Playmates Revives Metal Mutants after 20 Years with TMNT Leonardo Exclusive

Playmates TMNT Metal Mutants Leonardo - 2015 and 1995

Playmates has revealed its Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles exclusive for San Diego Comic-Con – an 11-inch vac-metal plated Metal Mutants Leonardo. Long-time TMNT fans may recognize the Metal Mutants from 1995, when Playmates released the four turtles and Shredder under that moniker. Playmates gave some hints as to why Leo is bedecked in metal this time around, saying, “There was a previous Metal Mutants line, but that was more about animal spirit armor, not exploring Dimension X.”

No word yet on the price of the exclusive. I imagine we’ll see more Metal Mutants from Playmates at the big show, but wonder if there will be more in the 11-inch size or if Leo will be a one-off.

DC Collectibles Arkham Knight in Stock at Gamestop including Red Hood Exclusive

DC Collectibles Arkham Knight with Gamestop exclusive Red Hood

Batman: Arkham Knight is out today, and by most accounts is amazing on the Xbox One and Playstation 4 and horribly crippled by a subpar port on the PC. But that doesn’t matter to us, right? We want the action figures for the latest (and perhaps last) Arkham game from Rocksteady.

Well, we’re in luck. The Batman: Arkham Knight figures by DC Collectibles are available now, including the exclusive Red Hood figure, at Gamestop. The figures are:

Border Patrol: Masters of the Universe Classics 200X Merman, Rio Blast, and Mosquitor

Border Patrol Masters of the Universe Classics 200X Merman Rio Blast and Mosquitor

It’s hard to make sense of how Mattel marketed Masters of the Universe Classics with respect to its earlier 200X toys. At first, they catered to 200X fans by including alternate, 200X-inspired heads. Then, they “banned” them, citing both cost concerns and upper management’s dislike of the aesthetics. And finally, with the line nearing its end, they decided to milk 200X by offering the 6-figure 200X sub. Along the way, there’s been missed opportunities, and it’s been up to customizers to fill those gaps.

In AFP’s Border Patrol, we scour active eBay auctions for customized action figures that you won’t want to let slip by!

CustomCon 39 is coming! Entry deadline is August 1.
