Mattel Announces Toys R Us Exclusive WWE Wrestlemania 26 Line-Up

I thought the Wrestlemania 26 series might be a good opportunity for more Divas in the line, with the 10-Diva Tag Team match, but everyone knows female figures don’t sell! šŸ˜‰

Mattel Ghostbusters, Toy Story, WWE, and Avatar Exclusives Announced on Attack of the Show

Attack of the Show aired part two of Blair Butler’s visit with Mattel’s Toy Guru, aka Scott Neitlich, where they covered the remaining exclusives for San Diego Comic-Con. We had guessed at some of these looking at snapshots of the video clips from the first reveal, but we hadn’t seen the Toy Story exclusive before tonight. Without further ado, here’s what was shown:

  • The Real Ghostbusters Retro-Action Heroes Peter Venkman – Mattel kicks off an extension to the Ghostbusters license with Mego-styled figures from the popular animated series. For SDCC, Venkman comes in his movie colors, as the Real Ghostbusters appeared in the episode, “Citizen Ghost.”
  • Toy Story 3 Lots-O’-Huggin’ Bear – this new Toy Story character, voiced by Ned Beatty in the upcoming third movie in the Toy Story series, will only be available as an SDCC and MattyCollector.com exclusive. The movie opens June 18, so Lots-O should have lots of companions on shelves waiting for him to join. He’ll apparently come with a shortcake scent.
  • WWE Wrestlemania XV Undertaker – this exclusive looks like an Entrance Great, with the Undertaker appearing in his Ministry of Darkness costume from Wrestlemania XV when he faced the Big Boss Man in the “Hell in a Cell” cage match. If it’s an Entrance Great, it will come with a base and sound chip that plays his entrance music. This version of the Undertaker will only be available as an SDCC and MattyCollector.com exclusive.
  • Avatar “Final Battle” Jake Sully vs. Colonel Quaritch – Jake gets a new head, the AMP gets some battle-damage, and they all get new accessories. A full diorama in package will make you think twice about opening it.

Toy Guru promises even more reveals, so check back again tomorrow.

AFP Ask Matty Round-Up for 4/15/10

No Magic 8-Ball this time around – here’s the straight up answers from Toy Guru and Mattel. Thanks guys!

1. If the demand for Masters of the Universe Classics at mass market is strong enough to support a retail line, what would that mean for MattyCollector.com and the long-term plan for MOTUC ? Would you want to continue the MattyCollector program with monthly releases with the long-term roadmap intact, or would you have to pull some figures forward to build out the mass market assortments?

If we ever brought MOTUC to retail, it would most likely be only in a movie year and would only be re-releases and repaints with fewer accessories (one head only, one weapon only) within a new pack-out pose in order to keep the original releases special . The plan, at least now, would be to continue the new figures with multiple heads and multiple accessories on a monthly basis on Mattycollector.com, even if re-releases are available at retail.

HeroClix Batman and Catwoman with Bat Signal Redemption

I haven’t dipped my toes into HeroClix, but keep getting tempted when I think about some of the giant figures I have. My DC Universe Classics Giganta could use some Heroclix to beat up on. Bats and Catwoman here are a special offer figure. Since they’ll be limited in quantity, you’ll want to secure yours soon after the offer goes live at 1PM EST today.

Seeking Redemption

With The Brave and The Bold release right around the corner, I wanted to let you know how we are going to handle the mail away redemption for the Batman and Catwoman brick figure.

Tomorrow at about 1:00 pm EST well kick live Ā www.wizkidsgames.com/buyitbythebrick andĀ you’ll find the forms you’ll need to complete the redemption process.

The process is very similar to previous redemptions except for the following:

  1. The redemption form will be hosted on our website
  2. We’veĀ made the redemption form an editable PDF.Ā  No more messy handwriting!
  3. All redemption forms & payments will be mailed to Alliance games in Fort Wayne, Indiana U.S.A. (keep reading)
  4. European redemptions will be shipped from a UK distribution center
  5. All other territories will be shipped out of the US distribution center
  6. International payment options will be honored here in the U.S.

In order to ensure that international redemptions are on a level playing field with domestic orders, we’ll reserve a percentage of the brick figures for international redemptions only.Ā Ā We’ll inventory balance as necessary and make sure all territories are treated in a fair manner.

In the event that we run out of numbered brick figures before the program expiration (July 16, 2010), we’ll announce the sell out and make a, time limited, last call for The Brave and The Bold redemptions.Ā Ā All redemptions gathered during the ā€œlast call periodā€ will be processed and we’ll reprint unnumbered versions of the Brick figures.
