Mattel Shares Comikaze Mattypalooza Reveals, plus Broom

Now we know how we’ll be getting that Robot Faker head – it will come with New Adventures Skeletor. And yes, the sword that Mattel teased at NYCC belongs to Flutterina. She has an actual skirt, so we can’t complain about the skirts that Mattel has been unintentionally giving the female characters in Masters of the Universe Classics recently.

And the latest reveal in the booth – Broom! For you Princess of Power fans, does that signal a Madame Razz in 2014?

Hot Toys Teases Angelina Jolie Maleficent Figure

Hollywood has moved on from vampires and zombies, and its latest loves are the classic fairy tales – and the twist that’s in vogue is telling it from the villain’s point of view. To be honest, I wasn’t thrilled with sparkling vampires, and no TV show or movie can top what Fables has done with fairy tales. But Disney’s Malificent, due out in May 2014, is different – because Hot Toys is on board with what will be the first figure of theirs of Angelina Jolie. I liked what SOTA did with their Tomb Raider figures way back when, but Hot Toys of a bad girl Angelina could put the emphasis on hot.

Soon you will meet the Mistress of All Evil.

Maleficent, an upcoming 2014 Disney film, will unveil the untold story of the iconic villain who is portrayed by the one and only Angelina Jolie. Hot Toys is proud to announce the Collectible Figure from this feature film which will be coming soon. Please stay tuned!

Star Wars Black Series 2014 Wave 1 Hi-Res Pics

We previously swiped (the low res) shots from YodasNews.com of what we were calling “wave 3” of the 6-inch Star Wars Black Series figures. Hasbro has shown us some love and shared what we’re going to start calling “2014 wave 1” of the series – that’s the official word from Hasbro.

This wave still includes the regular Stormtrooper, Jedi Master Obi Wan Kenobi, and Bespin Luke Skywalker. In hi-res, it’s a little harder to overlook the sad-face paint job on the eyes. Obi Wan and Luke are sad! I hope that as this line continues to succeed that we see some increased paint apps there.

Sideshow Reveals Exclusive Hot Toys Thor: The Dark World Light-Armored Figure

The second version of Thor: the Dark World from Hot Toys is a Sideshow exclusive. With this exclusive version, you forgo the black poncho that comes with the regular version. But if you want Thor in his un-armored look, without the scale mail on his arms and torso, then this is the version for you. The Sideshow version also comes with a more detailed rock base, versus the plain base on the other one.

The Asgardian Light Armor version of Thor is available to pre-order exclusively from Sideshow. It’s $229.99, like the regular version, and is also due out in September next year.

Hot Toys Announces Thor: The Dark World Figure

With Thor: the Dark World opening in the US a week from Friday, it’s about time that Hot Toys reveals its plans for the movie. And, not wanting to disappoint, they’ve got two versions of Thor heading our way. The first is the armored version of Thor. I’ve got the Thor from the first movie, and can see the subtle improvements in the head sculpt – this is more representative of Chris Hemsworth than the first one and the subsequent Avengers version. Perhaps not having to accommodate a helmeted look helps.

Thor is available to pre-order from Sideshow Collectibles. He’s $229.99 and due September 2014. We’ll have the second version up shortly.
