ToyFare 158 to Reveal DC Universe Classics Legion of Super-Heroes

This may be just a little more than advance notice, but ToyFare #158, on newsstands on August 11, will highlight a new theme for DC Universe Classics – the Legion of Super-Heroes. This may not come as a surprise to those of you who know that Validus, the Collect and Connect figure that Mattel just announced for DC Universe Classics wave 15, is a big LoSH villain.

Thanks to the folks at CriticalMess for discovering the announcement. They’ve also got a nice series of articles on the Legion, for those of you looking for a primer. Great stuff!

AFP Hasbro G.I. JOE Q&A for 5/23/10

The G.I. JOE team at Hasbro is back with another round of Q&A. If you recall, of the questions submitted, they’ll respond to a number of them of their choosing for the initial round of answers. Then in a couple of days, they’ll send out all the answers to all the questions for the current round. This time we got two out of three answered.

1) Have you ever considered releasing the figures you pack in vehicles like the Motor Viper / Nitro Viper or the upcoming Desert Scorpion in army builder friendly packs? More people would like to build squads but not have to buy 6 vehicles, for example.

Steel Crusher APV with Nitro Viper

Great suggestion. This is not currently in our plan but we will consider this type of pack in the future.

San Diego Comic-Con Exclusive DC Universe Classics Plastic Man Packaged Pics

As we’ve come to expect from Mattel, the SDCC DC Universe Classics Plastic Man packaging is outstanding. It’s made to look like Plas himself, and the removable and wearable glasses are simply great touches.

Plastic Man Packaging Shapes Up to Be Super Special

DCU Fans,

One of the SDCC figures we know you’re stoked to see is the one and only malleable immortal, Plastic Man. Being that he’s a super hero and all, we felt his packaging should be equally impressive and here’s your first look!

This special packaging has been shaped to look like Plastic Man himself and it comes in a full-color shipper box for safe keeping. But the coolest thing of all? A pair of Plastic Man glasses are included that can be removed from the package and worn by you!

The figure itself has interchangeable standard arms, stretchy arms, giant form hands (a fly swatter and a bouncy ball with racket), and interchangeable stretchy neck and leg springs. If you do purchase Plastic Man at SDCC, he’ll also come with a special suitcase available only at the show (packed in a separate poly bag). Not just any suitcase, of course… his arms, head and neck can be attached to the suitcase to make him appear disguised as luggage. Inside the suitcase is a chip-art comic book cover from the 75 years of DC Comics.

Can’t make it to SDCC? Don’t worry; Plastic Man (sans suitcase) will be available here on MattyCollector.com after the show, so keep your eye on this spot for more details!
