threeA Toys Popbots Up For Pre-Order May 28

Fans of Ashley Wood’s Popbot, a set of collector-oriented vinyl action figures are coming your way from threeA Toys in1/6 scale. These will go up for pre-order at bambalandstore.com on May 28 at 9AM Hong Kong time. For the time-zone challenged out there, that’s 9PM EST / 6PM PST tonight (May 27).

I’m trying to avoid adding another 1/6 scale line so I’m passing, despite how insanely cool these look, but you can check out our coverage of one of our favorite 1/12 lines, WWRp, also from threeA. I hope Popbot makes it into a “portable” 1/12 scale like World War Robot has.

Iron Man 2 Comic Series Wave 2 Available on HasbroToyShop.com

Iron Man Comic Series Wave 2.jpg

I’ve been hunting for these figures since Ash Talon reviewed Iron Man 2 Comic Series wave 2. I was particularly impressed with the Hulkbuster Iron Man and Titanium Man. I haven’t yet seen them at retail, but today I checked HasbroToyShop.com and found them all available there.

I just placed my order. Happy hunting!

DC Direct Announces Return of Bruce Wayne Figures

The second issue of the Return of Bruce Wayne hit shelves today, and DC Direct took the opportunity to announce a line of action figures to go with the mini-series. I should know better than to doubt Grant Morrison – the first two issues have been a fun read, and the hook that Darkseid has booby-trapped Bruce to destroy the Earth *if* he makes it back to his own time makes it even more compelling.

Well, how about a first look at DC DIRECT’s RETURN OF BRUCE WAYNE action figures?

The first wave will hit in April of next year, and features four different versions of our time lost hero, based on the designs of cover artist Andy Kubert.

The figures include:

  • Prehistoric Batman
  • Witch-hunter Batman
  • Wild West Batman
  • High Seas Batman

Masters of the Universe Classics Tytus – It’sAllTrue.Net

I’m still bitter that I missed my chance at picking up the MOTU Classics Tytus this month – so I’m muttering under my breath as I’m linking you to Noisy’s excellent review of Tytus over at IAT.

Tytus has a very unique look that’s not quite Classics. The original Tytus wasn’t simply a scaled up vintage figure and the Classics Tytus isn’t just a scaled up MOTUC with less articulation. When I look at him overall, he almost appears more 200x than Classic, but I can’t exactly put my finger on why. He doesn’t have any of the uh, “hyper anime” flair, but his larger size does allow for more detail on the armor, some veins on the hands and arms, hammered metal details on the boots, and the intricate belt design. I imagine a 200x fan could place him with that collection and be happy. And, all the while, he still fits in just fine with the Classics. Simply put, the part of Tytus the 4H had control over is great and makes you feel the closest to getting your money’s worth.

AFP Hasbro Marvel Q&A Roundup for 5/26/10

The Hasbro Marvel brand team is back with another round of Q&A. Thanks guys!

1) A couple of months ago, you revealed some new Iron Man 2 3.75-inch figures we hadn’t seen before – Black Widow, Nick Fury, and unmasked versions of Iron Man in the Mark VI armor and War Machine. When should we expect to see those on shelves? Will they be widely available or exclusive to a retailer? Will Iron Man and War Machine come with interchangeable heads for their masked looks?

These will arrive in store this fall (closer to DVD timing in October) at various retailers. We do not yet have confirmed launch dates from the retailers – so keep your eyes peeled! And, yes, they will come with their masked looks as well.
