DC Universe Classics Wal-Mart Exclusive Crime Syndicate Of Amerika Quick Pics

I’ve been traveling a lot over the past two weeks and doing some hunting whenever possible. A couple of days ago, on the way back home from South Carolina, I pulled into a Wal-Mart in Georgia and came face to face with these evil crackers from a fudged up dimension! The problem is, at first glance, you can’t tell they’re evil! Not one of them has a goatee, which any old sci-fi fan knows is the obvious sign of an evil personality from an alternate dimension.

But I digress. So there they were and there was me, looking at them and Owlman looked so good and I caved in and bought ’em. Then Ron caught wind that I had ’em and said; “Get ’em up on AFP, ya slow, lazy bastard!” So here you are, loyal AFP reader, some DCUC CSA Quick Pics to whet your appetite. You’re very welcome. 😛

Best of San Diego Comic-Con 2011 – Buzzy Fret

Howdy, AFP viewers!

I’m finally back from San Diego Comic-Con 2011, slowly recovering from jet-lag, and making an attempt to kick start my travel-addled brain to give you my picks for Best of SDCC 2011!

3) DC Universe Classics Wave 19 Hawkman has his hooded head as a Pack-In!

DCUC wave 19 (12)

See it there, hiding behind Hawkman’s mace?

I had completely missed this at the show, and it wasn’t mentioned in either of the Mattel panels I was able to attend. It wasn’t until I got home and a friend pointed it out that I saw it. I’m incredibly happy that Mattel decided to make this Hawkman with swappable heads, as I’m not a fan of the “full beaked” mask. This improves DCUC 19 a hundred-fold for me.

San Diego Comic-Con 2011 – Mattel DC Universe Panel Video

Last week we also asked Matty what they were planning to do for a DC Universe Fan’s Choice poll this year. Matty’s answer:

Right now that is a bit up in the air. With the changes in DC and the emergence of DCnU a lot has changed in our 2012 plans and we are scrambling to catch up!

Ah, that clever Matty! Of course he knew about the vote to pick the new Club Infinite Earths exclusive figure, but had to give us a coy answer to save up the surprise for today’s DC Universe panel at San Diego Comic-Con. We’ve got the video right here.

San Diego Comic-Con 2011 – Mattel Mattypalooza Panel Video

Back in our latest Ask Matty Q&A, we asked about the rights to the Filmation characters. Part of Matty’s answer:

If we ever do have access to this library of characters you will know it. It will not be announced cryptically but rather very loudly (if it ever happens).

And here we are, just a week later, with a rather loud announcement. We’ve got the video of Mattel’s Mattypalooza panel, covering the MattyCollector announcements for WWE, Ghostbusters, Voltron, Masters of the Universe Classics, and even some DC Universe Classics goodness.

San Diego Comic-Con 2011 – Square Enix Play Arts Kai Halo, Street Fighter, Batman: Arkham Asylum, and More

Halo%20(4)%20(1280x852)

Square Enix is a global media and entertainment company known primarily for its video games, but to me they’re the toy company that the other toy companies should dread if they share licenses. Because when you’re stacked up against Square Enix’s Play Arts Kai line of figures, you’re going to have a hard time outdoing them.

Yeah, these figures are expensive and in an oddball 8-inch scale, but they are also the complete package – extremely detailed sculpts with great paint apps and super articulation to boot. And with shared licenses such as Halo: Reach, Street Fighter, Batman: Arkham Asylum, and more, these will be impossible to ignore.
