DC Universe Classics Wave 10 Packaged Pics

Mattel has updated its Facebook page with packaged pics of wave 10 of DC Universe Classics, which is exclusive to Wal-Mart.  I was wondering how they were able to get Power Girl and her prodigious cleavage into the family-friendly juggernaut retailer, and I wonder if her sideways packaged stance is by Wal-Mart’s request.

  • Beast Boy – Beast Boy with pack out animal form. Looks familiar…
  • Batman – Batman is back, all in black. Check out the all new Bat-Laptop!
  • Forager – Forager joins the New God rebellion!
  • Joker – Where does he get all those wonderful accessories?
  • Man-Bat – By popular request, Kirk in brown deco. Prob the only time we will ever re-issue a former SDCC item.
  • Power Girl – Not the final pack out. Her head will be turned a bit more forward.
  • Robotman – Cliff’s head case is removable to see his brain!

Club Eternia Subscriptions for Masters of the Universe Classics Close Friday at Noon EST

Two things to note here:

  • The deadline for ordering Club Eternia, the 2010 subscription plan for Masters of the Universe Classics, is at NOON EST on Friday.  So if you’ve got the tendency to sleep in on Friday mornings, it might be best to get your last minute orders in on Thursday.
  • Mattel is leaning towards the partial flocking option for Moss Man.  Huzzah!

Honestly, I’m still on the fence for the subscription.  Mattel and the Four Horsemen have such a big share of my action figure expenditures that every month I’ll be hitting up Mattycollector anyways.  So if there’s something else I’m getting besides Wun-Dar and the posters, I can’t figure it out.  I need to decide whether Wun-Dar is worth what I’ll be paying in extra shipping and handling next year for my Matty purchases not covered by the subscription.  While I like the subscription model, I would much rather have a pre-ordering option by figure.

Here’s the pics and what I wrote up during San Diego Comic-Con for Club Eternia and the Masters line: San Diego Comic-Con Mattel Masters of the Universe Classics Pics (more of them!)

DC Universe Classics Gotham City 5 Now Hitting Wal-Mart

The DC Universe Classics Gotham City 5 has been found at a couple of Wal-Marts in Houston.  The 5-pack, which is exclusive to Wal-Mart, includes:

  • a new Lex Luthor in his iconic purple and green jumpsuit,
  • Superman from the Braniac / Superman 2-pack but with normal eyes,
  • Batman from the Batman / Clayface 2-pack but without the mud splatters,
  • Two-Face from DCSH with new paint deco, and
  • and Catwoman from DCSH with new paint deco.

I’ve got no explanation why it’s called the Gotham City 5.

elmeaux from TheFwoosh.com snapped some pretty good pictures.  You can see the entirety of them in this post: DCUC Walmart 5 pack released.

Mez-Itz Con Exclusive Comic Book Hellboy

Mezco Mez-Itz - Comic Book Hellboy will shoot you in the face!
Mezco Mez-Itz - Comic Book Hellboy will shoot you in the face!

You know what?  I wanted to take some pictures of the Mezco Mez-Itz Comic Book Hellboy that’s exclusive to San Diego Comic-Con and their online store because I thought it would be a simple review.  After all, it’s a vinyl figure, right?  With vinyl, you plunk them down on a shelf, you dust them off once in a while, and that’s about it.

Not so with this guy.  As you’ll see, there’s more to this figure than you might be expecting.  I was certainly surprised.

Two Exclusive X-Men Minimates Sets from Action Figure Express

This winter, Action Figure Express will have two exclusive X-Men Minimates sets, the Silver Age X-Men in their matching blue and gold suits, and the original X-Factor which reunited that team in their costumes with large colored X across the front.  Well, kind of.  The sets as planned contain four X-Men each, while the teams each had five.

The four members in the 4-packs are Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Iceman, and Beast.  The odd man out is Angel.  Don’t fret, though.  An Angel for both teams will be released in the standard 2-pack format.  Not together, though.  Silver Age Angel is in an AFX 2-pack with a modern Madrox the Multiple Man – which could be unfortunate since people may want to army build with Madrox.  And X-Factor Angel will be part of a Toys R Us 2-pack with Warpath.

I think this is an odd arrangement – if you’re going to release a packaged set of a team, why release one of the key members separately?  … Oh no – if I start chanting “No Monkey, No Money!” just talk me down gently.

X-Men Minimates Go Retro With AFX!

It’s been an extremely exciting year for Marvel Minimates so far, and 2009 is going to keep delivering more of your favorite Marvel characters – focusing on Marvel’s Mighty Mutants! Two new exclusive box sets will be hitting collections later this year starring none other than the X-Men!

First up from Action Figure Xpress is the much-requested Silver Age X-Men box set featuring the original five members of the team in their first appearance duds. Featuring Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Iceman and Beast – Minimate-aholics will be able to complete their set of founding X-Men with the Silver Age Angel available in Series 31 (due for release in December of ’09). Please take note that the Silver Age Angel will NO LONGER be the chase figure in this assortment, giving fans much improved odds on completing their Silver Age X-Men team. The Silver Age X-Men box set is now available for pre-order on ShopAFX.com and will also be shipping to customers in the end of this year.

As if one team of classic X-Men with interchangeable heads and accessories wasn’t enough, a second box set featuring the team’s landmark X-Factor outfits is also in the works from Action Figure Xpress! Featuring new versions of Beast, Cyclops, Iceman and Jean Grey – fans will again be able to complete their five-member team by visiting Toys R Us and picking up the X-Factor Angel & Warpath two-pack this fall. The four-pack X-Factor set can be pre-ordered from ShopAFX.com and will be available concurrently to the Silver Age X-Men set.

For our complete offering of Silver Age X-Men characters, look for a new visual checklist on Minimates.com in the coming days and be sure to stay tuned as more and more of Marvel’s Mighty Mutants make Marvel Minimates history – two inches at a time!
