Toy Fair 2015: DC Collectibles Unveils Action Figure Line-Up for the Year, Including Batmobile for Batman: The Animated Series Line

Remember way back when we used to ask “How about vehicles?” for our favorite 6-inch lines? It used to be that vehicles were considered too costly to make, but Mattel finally found a way to do it for the Batman 1966 line, and now DC Collectibles will add an animated Batmobile (including LED lights and a sliding hatch for the 2-figure cockpit!) for its 6-inch scaled line for Batman: The Animated Series this year. The solution, of course, was to set a “collector” price tag. The Mattel Batmobile was $50 as a Toys R Us exclusive. We’ll have to wait and see how much the BTAS Batmobile will crush our wallets.

DCC also announced more waves of the BTAS line, including Bane and Nightwing; more from The Flash and Arrow; and a new line of 6=inch action figures called DC Comics Icons, based on the art of Ivan Reis. Should be a good year for DC collectors, even with the void left by the demise of Mattel’s DC Universe Classics.

Soapbox Sunday: Top Ten DC Universe Classics We’ll Never Get

DCUC-Top-Ten-Never

With Doomsday and the Damian Wayne Robin in my hands, it’s starting to dawn on me that the DC Universe Classics line has finally come to an end – not a hiatus, as I had hoped when Mattel pulled the line from retail, but an end. So there’s no better time to talk about what-ifs.

We all have our favorite characters that never made it into the line. For this installment of Soapbox Sunday, I’ll take a look at my most wanted, and give you my picks for what if we could have one more figure from each of the DC family of characters. Then you can tell me yours.

Weekend Toy Run: Hot Toys Batman and Robin (1960s TV Series) Bundle and More

Hot Toys Batman (1966) 02

If you’ve been on the fence about picking up the Hot Toys Batman and Robin from the ’60s television show, you might have found the right weekend to do so. Right now, Sideshow Collectibles is offering a bundled deal for the pair – add the Dynamic Duo to your cart and you’ll get another 5% off the discounted price (already almost $40 off) plus free shipping and extra rewards points (to the tune of $35.55). Batman and Robin are also on sale individually, but in this case I can’t see getting one without the other, especially with the 5% kicker.

But maybe the ’60s isn’t your thing – if not, they are also offering another bundle for the Sideshow Collectibles Batman and Hot Toys Bank Robber Joker. Both are awesome figures more suited for your dark and gritty Batman tastes. You’ll get 15% off the regular price for each and free shipping.

These bundles expire at the end of the month, and the free shipping is for domestic U.S. shipping only. Happy shopping!
