Hot Toys Announces First Quarter Scale Iron Man – Avengers: Age of Ultron Mark XLIII

Have a big house and an even bigger toy budget? For those of you who think 12-inches of Iron Man isn’t enough, Hot Toys has just announced the first quarter scale Iron Man. The Iron Man Mark XLIII from Avengers: Age of Ultron stands at an impressive 20-inches tall and has all the bells and whistles you could expect – an interchangeable Tony Stark head and three pairs of hands; LED light-up eyes, ARC reactor, and repulsors; and an Ultron Sentry base with an arm and head that Iron Man can rip off of it.

You can pre-order the Marvel Iron Man Mark XLIII Quarter Scale Figure from Sideshow Collectibles for $544.99. That’s a bargain, considering their listing for the Hot Toys Hulkbuster Iron Man (one inch taller at 21-inches tall) at $824.99. Guess it’s time to tell my wife we need a second mortgage!

Hot Toys Reveals Hawkeye from Avengers: Age of Ultron

Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye is the latest Avenger from Age of Ultron to get a Hot Toys figure. Like Cap, Iron Man, Hulk, and Black Widow, Hawkeye’s been updated with his costume look from the movie, sporting the long sleeve tunic that looks more appropriate for those cold weather sequences in the movie. His headsculpt looks better to me this time around, and yes, he still comes with those cool shades. He’s also armed with a baker’s dozen of arrows and nine interchangeable arrow heads – if you ask me, that still doesn’t seem like enough when you’re being overrun by a horde of Ultron drones.

I skipped the first version of Hawkeye when the original movie came out, but feel compelled to complete my Avengers with him now. You can pre-order the Marvel Hawkeye Sixth Scale Figure from Sideshow Collectibles.

This just leaves Thor and Nick Fury for the major characters that may get re-dos for the sequel, and the ~~mutant~~ Inhuman twins, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, for their first Hot Toys figures. Avengers Assemble!

Hot Toys Avengers: Age of Ultron – Hulk and Hulkbuster Iron Man

One of the highlights of the Avengers: Age of Ultron trailers is seeing Hulk mix it up with Iron Man in a new set of armor – the Hulkbuster armor. So it was a real treat for me to see prototypes of both figures at the Hot Toys Secret Base – their flagship retail store in Hong Kong.

Hot Toys Avengers: Age of Ultron – Iron Man Mark XLIII, Captain America, and Ultron Prime (Including Video Fly-By)

I’ve been trying to avoid the hype for Avengers: Age of Ultron, and as a result I’ve fallen behind on the toys. With the first movie a certified blockbuster, I knew that Hot Toys would go all-in on the sequel. They did not disappoint.

Here’s for the first three figures they announced: the Iron Man Mark XLIII (diecast), Captain America, and Ultron Prime. I’ve attached the press images plus a video fly-by of the three figures.

Toy Fair 2015: Hasbro Marvel Legends Video Fly-Bys

You may have noticed in some of our Toy Fair 2015 coverage a new feature we’re trying out – the AFP fly-by video. I’ve said before that I’m not that big of a fan of video reviews, so the Fly-By doesn’t follow the standard video review approach. No over-the-top voiceovers, no intro theme music, and no frills – just the action figures.
