Off Topic: Carry Your Action Figures and More in Style in these Kickstarter Bags

Get both form and function with the Mochibags Drawstring Backpack and the Kendal & Hyde Classic Leather Satchel

Kickstarter Mochibags and Kendal and Hyde Satchel

I am on the go a lot these days – almost as much as during my earlier days as a salesman and then as a consultant. Sure, instead of customer calls or client meetings, now I’m going to SDCC, Toy Fair, or other conventions, making the occasional real-world toy runs, and visiting family and friends all over the place. But whether it’s a day trip or much longer, what hasn’t changed is the need to take stuff with me – computer and camera gear, clothes, and the occasional action figure.

Because of all this, what I use to carry my stuff is nearly as important as the stuff itself. I want it to be easy to use and to protect the stuff inside. And, it doesn’t hurt if it looks good in the process.

It just so happens that the Drawstring Backpack by Mochibags and the Classic Leather Satchel by Kendal & Hyde fit the bill in those regards. I’ve backed both projects on Kickstarter. They’ve both exceeded their funding objectives. And coincidentally, both projects funding periods end this Friday evening – so you have to act fast if you want to back them.

SDCC 2015: G.I. JOE Gets Jumbo and Micro Exclusives from Gentle Giant

Grunt, Snake Eyes, and Rock ‘n Roll get the Gentle Giant vintage makeover

SDCC 2015 Gentle Giant G.I. JOE Jumbo and Micro exclusives

With its San Diego Comic-Con exclusives this year, Gentle Giant is expanding its vintage G.I. JOE product line… and shrinking it. Grunt, the infantry trooper, will be the latest vintage figure to be revealed in its 12-inch line. He may also be the first you can get into your hands. Rock ‘n Roll, Stalker, Snake Eyes, and Zap are in the pipeline for 12-inch but are expected to be released after SDCC.

Meanwhile, Snake Eyes and Rock ‘n Roll are serving double duty, launching a micro-figure scale with a 2-pack exclusive for the show. It’s not clear exactly how micro is micro, but seeing as how the figures will fit easily in the palm of your hand, they’ll be a good deal smaller than the classic 3 3/4-inch figures. Maybe 50% smaller, making them 1 7/8-inches?

You can pre-order these the Jumbo and Micro exclusives (and more) from Gentle Giant if you are a Premier Guild member.

Weekend Toy Run: The AFP “Two/Bad” Movie Poster T-Shirt and More – Save 15%

Two-Bad parody movie poster t-shirt

Did you know that June 21st will be the 8th International T-Shirt Day? I’m pretty sure that it was invented by our t-shirt partner, but made-up commemorative day irregardless, they’re giving us a 15% discount starting today and running through T-Shirt Day (the 21st again). And just for that, we’ve made a special t-shirt for the occasion, featuring one of our favorite Masters of the Universe Classics figures – Two-Bad. The Two/Bad movie poster t-shirt is a riff on one of our favorite terrible yet awesome movies from the 90s. Can you name that movie?

The Two/Bad Movie Poster t-shirt is available on the rarely publicized Fan Tribute T-shirts page on AFP. While you’re there, check out our Avengers: Age of Ultron “Obey” t-shirt (and more!) and use “TSHIRT2015” code to get your 15% off. That code also works on the regular Spreadshirt site.

SDCC 2015: Funko Exclusives Reveals Week 1 of 3

SDCC 2015 Funko Exclusives Reveals Week 1 of 3

I never realized just how many exclusives Funko produces each year for San Diego Comic-Con. They’re revealing them in batches, and we’ve collected the first week’s announcements here. They span their Dorbz, Hikari, Pop, ReAction, and Vinyl Idolz product lines, and covers their DC, Marvel, Disney, Hanna Barbera, Ghostbusters, Breaking Bad, and Dragonball Z licenses… just to name a few!

Unlike previous years, Funko is not offering the option to pre-order.

We should have two more updates with more Funko exclusives before the big show.
