Mattel released two updates on its Facebook page regarding its WWE Pay Per View series of figures.  They released pictures of the first PPV lineup from the 2009 Survivor Series.  These figures will hit in March.

They also announced that the Royal Rumble will be the next series of Pay Per View figures, and are conducting a fan poll to gather input on who we want in the lineup.  The Survivor Series figures had a four month gap between the PPV and the planned shelf date.  Does this mean we could we see Royal Rumble figures as early as May?

First Look – Walmart Exclusive DC Universe Classics 2-Packs – ToyNewsI.com

TNI has posted several pictures of the upcoming Walmart exclusive 2-packs featuring Aquaman / Black Manta and Batman / Robin, all with new paint decos. I like that they’re reissuing the hard-to-find Aquaman, and with a very cool metallic set of scales. And fans of the Super Friends will get a Black Manta in the blue color scheme from the cartoon.

I’m not too keen on the Batman and Robin set. We’ve had too many Batmen using the original Detective Batman body (yes it’s the Public Enemies belt, but the glove and boot ridges give it away, plus the already smallish head would be even more pinheaded). And the Tim Drake red and green Robin costume has so many details that are off because Mattel used the unmodified original sculpt.  I understand the need to reuse, but I think this set needed a little more to make it worthwhile to collectors.

SOTA “Lightning Blanka” Auction to Support Haiti is Now Live

The SOTA auction for the one of a kind Lightning Blanka statue is now live. All profits from the auction will benefit victims of the earthquake in Haiti, via the Red Cross. The auction ends February 4 at 9AM PT.  Bid now!

Street Fighter ‘Lightning Blanka’ resin statue PROTOTYPE auction for Haiti Relief effort!!

In lieu of the terrible events in Haiti, SOTA Toys has decided to auction off a prototype statue (no reserve!), with ALL profits to be donated to the Red Cross relief effort. This one-off piece, affectionately known as “Lightning Blanka,” is a clear resin statue tinted in blue with lightning arcs painted over the body depicting the character Blanka from the renowned video game series Street Fighter, made by CAPCOM.

It features the same pose as the statue SOTA Toys manufactured and released in 2007, however this particular piece is a concept prototype that was produced but has never gone into production. And after this auction, it never will. As a part of this auction, the winner will receive a certificate of authenticity as well as free shipping to anywhere he or she desires.

Hasbro Iron Man 2 Comic Series 3.75-Inch Figures

This is a review from Sandman21xxi – he’s become a fixture on the Fwoosh with his great pics across a variety of toy lines, and he’ll be joining us soon as a regular contributor on AFP!

Classic Iron Man, Stealth Operations Iron Man, First Appearance Iron Man and Crimson Dynamo!

Iron Man 2 (768x1024).jpg

Three months to go before Iron Man 2 hits the theaters (I believe the release date is May 7, 2010), and the toys have started to show up in some stores! I got this set at Toys R Us, which somewhat surprised me as it’s only January, but hey I’m not complaining! These figures are from the Comic Series. I saw some from the Movie and Concept series, but I was more interested in these guys because they would be a welcome addition to my Marvel Universe collection!

I’m doing more of a picture review with some of my observations added in. Let’s start with a lineup pic for size reference and some comparison pics with some Marvel Universe figures.

McFarlane Announces Halo: Reach 5-inch Line of Action Figures and Vehicles

With new models for the space marines, monsters, and vehicles, Halo: Reach should breathe some new life into McFarlane’s Halo action figure franchise.  I’m hoping that we’ll finally get an in-scale Warthog for the 5-inch line.  I can dream, right?
