AFP Ask Matty Round-Up for 1/29/10

The guys are back with what might be the last Mattel Q&A before Toy Fair.  Thanks to Toy Guru and Manic Mike!

1. We’ve heard of a lot of collectors getting the DC Universe Classics wave 11 Deadman variant in their shipments from online retailers, including MattyCollector.com (who had said that was the only figure not included in their sets). Were the production ratios off?

This was an error in fans’ favor. Going forward the chase version in each wave will be only at retail and not in the MattyCollector.com sets.

Hot Toys MMS Blade II Available in Hong Kong

The Hot Toys MMS Blade II has arrived in Hong Kong, and the final head sculpt looks fantastic.  Take a look back at the press pics.

A real Blade arrives!

Blade is coming in real! The final head sculpture, with more prominent facial features, movie-accurate eye and facial expression, fine wrinkles, frown and moustache, further illustrates his likeness. The signature tattoo at the back also stands out his fierceness! Equipped with the detailed costume, accessories and weapons, he is now going to hunt even more vampires!

G.I. Joe Ultimate Duke Action Figure on Clearance at Walmart.com

While this isn’t the type of figure I’d normally go for, I think it’d make an excellent gift for a younger action figure fan. I saw this demonstrated at Toy Fair last year, and it’s got some pretty cool interactive features that I would have loved as a kid. On clearance now at Wal-Mart for $29 (regularly $49), the Ultimate Duke is a pretty good deal.

G.I. Joe Ultimate Duke Action Figure

Prepare yourself for an intense mission when you team up with this Accelerator Suit Duke figure. Featuring “Smart” technology, this soldier sidekick “recognizes” each weapon, like his missile-firing pulse rifle or spinning, light-up gatling gun. The figure also responds with coordinating actions and sounds. Make his legs move and squeeze the trigger for “running” action that keeps him one step ahead of Cobra enemies. Go stealth when you lower Accelerator Suit Duke figure’s visor for Night Operations mode. With lights, sounds and over 50 phrases, this is one action figure that’s ready for action.

  • Motorized action
  • Animated arms and head
  • “Talking” mouth with over 50 phrases
  • “Running” action
  • “Smart” technology “recognizes” each weapon
  • “Smart” technology responds with coordinating actions and sounds
  • Two different modes including Night Operations Mode
  • Requires 4 “AA” batteries (included)

Incredible Hulk Wave 3 Bi-Beast, Iron Clad, and Classic Hulk

Fwoosher Hagop sent pictures of three figures from Wave 3 of the 3.75-inch Incredible Hulk movie line.  These figures didn’t see wide distribution when first released near the end of 2008, and excess inventory has made its way to discount stores.

Bi-Beast, Iron Clad, and a classic version of the Hulk were not featured in the Incredible Hulk movie, but were based off of designs from the Incredible Hulk video game by Sega.
