SDCC 2015: Bif Bang Pow! Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, Star Trek IV Whales with Spock Exclusives

SDCC 2015 Bif Bang Pow Tina Fey Amy Poehler Star Trek IV

I thought about writing this post in the format of a Saturday Night Live: Weekend Update skit (Really!?! With Tina and Amy) and then reconsidered. It’d have started, “Really, Bif Bang Pow!?! A whale bobble-tail exclusive?” But then I realized there’s many reasons I write about action figures and not comedy.

Bif Bang Pow! revealed a pair of exclusives through Entertainment Earth. The first is a pair of 3.5-inch figures of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, and their SNL: Weekend Update desk packaging. The second is a pair of whales from Star Trek IV, with bobble-tails and a swimming Mr. Speck – tiny Spock. (I know there’s comedy in there somewhere.)

If you’re not attending the big show, you can pre-order these Con-exclusives at Entertainment Earth.

Remote Control BB-8 from Star Wars: The Force Awakens Coming This September?

BB-8

We’re still waiting for official confirmation of Black Series figures for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but in the meantime, if you were wondering about getting your own BB-8 robot, a remote control BB-8 toy (in silhouette) is kinda confirmed but shrouded in secrecy by Sphero with “This is the Droid you’re looking for” as the caption.

Off Topic: Marvel and Samsung Team-Up for the Galaxy S6 Edge Iron Man Phone

Limited edition phone is exclusive to Asian markets

Samsung Galaxy S6 edge Iron Man Limited Edition

If you’ve been debating whether Tony Stark is an iPhone or Android guy, argue no more – he’s an Android guy. (At least for as long as those promotional dollars from Samsung are good.) It makes sense though, right? I mean, this is the guy who created the Iron Legion, Ultron, and the Vision… Androids. To prove the point, Samsung is releasing an Iron Man themed version of their flagship phone.

The Galaxy S6 edge Iron Man Limited Edition comes with a metallic red and gold color scheme, an Iron Man-themed interface, and an ARC reactor that doubles as a wireless charging station. The catch? For now, this phone will only be available in Korea (starting tomorrow) and China and Hong Kong (starting in June). I think the US would rather have a Hulk phone.

Hot Toys Reveals Avengers: Age of Ultron Iron Man Mark XLV and Iron Legion

Hot Toys revealed its latest figures from Avengers: Age of Ultron – a pair of Iron Man figures. The Mark XLV armor was introduced late in the movie without the typical fanfare we’d have seen if this were from a solo Iron Man flick. It’s the latest Diecast release, and in addition to the normal accessories, it comes with several blast effects and a damaged Ultron Prime as part of its base. The Mark XLV is my favorite look for Iron Man thus far in the entire franchise. The curves give it a more organic look than the previous armors, and I think it strikes just the right balance of red with a touch of gold.

In contrast, the Iron Legion figure looks wholly like a machine. There’s no mistaking that there’s not a person in that suit of armor. In many ways, the design reminds me of clunkier toys like the defunct Sigma Six G.I. JOE figures. This particular Iron Legion is identified as “03” – I don’t know if that’s significant to the creation of the Ultron Mark I, but I’d think it would have been cool if Hot Toys provided number decals so you could recreate more of the Iron Legion. I bet someone supplies decal kits in the aftermarket.

You can pre-order the Marvel Iron Man Mark XLV Sixth Scale Figure at Sideshow Collectibles. The Iron Legion hasn’t shown up for pre-order yet, but we’ll keep searching Sideshow for it.

SDCC 2015 (and WebSwipe): DC Collectibles Announces Two Exclusives – USAToday.com

BlueLine Edition Batman and Krypto Plush will be available at SDCC

DC Collectibles SDCC 2015 exclusives - Jim Lee Blue Line Batman and Krypto Plush

DC Collectibles announced two exclusives for San Diego Comic-Con via USA Today. For action figure fans, Jim Lee debuted a “BlueLine Edition” Batman, which he designed with a unique pencil deco. There will be two versions of the figure. The standard version ($40) will come with a Jim Lee Batman print on blueline paper. The limited version will be a run of 150 pieces and will feature a signed unique sketch from Lee. There’ll be fifty each of Batman, Harley Quinn, and the Joker – those will run you $300 each at the show and will likely go Bat-sh*t crazy in the after-market.

The second exclusive is a much more budget-friendly plush Krypto, for $9.99. Krypto is part of the 6-inch DC Super Pets plush line, which also includes Dex-Starr, Hoppy, and Streaky. I’m disappointed there’s no Ace the Bat-Hound yet.
