Hasbro Marvel San Diego Comic-Con Exclusives Press Pics – ToyFare 155

Lots of coverage of San Diego Comic-Con Exclusives in the latest ToyFare magazine, so pick up your copy today. We first heard about the Marvel Universe Ultimate Captain America and Ages of Thunder Thor exclusives back at Toy Fair – yes, ToyFare (the magazine) and Toy Fair (the industry show) – I still get confused.

And we knew the one who hungers was coming to retail, but just found out about the SDCC version of the Marvel Universe Galactus recently.  He’ll come with the lights and sounds, but won’t come with Silver Surfer. I’m still trying to fathom just how big the cardback is going to be. I know it says 27 inches, but it’s hard to wrap my brain around that. Awesome!

EXCLUSIVE: Hasbro Marvel SDCC Exclusives

If you picked up ToyFare #155 (on sale now, donchaknow!), you have borne witness to something pretty awesome: three of Hasbro’s sure-to-be-red-hot exclusives for July’s San Diego Comic-Con. But since the only glimpse we gave you of Ultimate Captain America and Ages of Thunder Thor was our super-artsy cover image, I decided to throw some more images up on our blog of the figures under non-fancy lighting. Please note that these were prototypes, so the final paints probably won’t end up looking exactly like this. Ready for your WORLD-EXCLUSIVE?

And just for good measure, here’s the other Marvel SDCC exclusive from Hasbro: the 19-inch Galactus in an exclusive 27-inch tall blister card, featuring artwork by Joe Quesada!

DC Direct June Solicitations

It’s a big day for action figures from DC – earlier, we had Mattel reveal wave 15 from DC Universe Classics, and here, DC Direct is revealing its action figure line for Batman: Arkham Asylum. Wow! It’s going to be a long wait until January.

BATMAN: ARKHAM ASYLUM SERIES 1 ACTION FIGURES

It’s a madhouse … and the lunatics are running the asylum!

After arriving on Arkham Island, Batman is greeted by Warden Sharp and security personnel. Although The Joker is securely strapped to a handcart for transfer to the deepest bowels of Arkham, he escapes nonetheless. This is going to be the worst night of Batman’s life. With The Joker free, inciting unrest among the inmates, Batman faces a riot from a cadre of Gotham City’s most wanted: killers and psychopaths who are screaming for vengeance and out for blood. Batman’s blood. His mission? Stop The Joker – and his accomplices – at all costs.

Welcome to the asylum. Arkham Asylum.

A couple of days ago we posted a lineup for DC Universe Classics wave 15 we saw at an online retailer. Today, Mattel posted some pics of wave 15 confirming the lineup, as well as revealing upcoming JLU singles that are exclusive to Target.

Legion of Super-Heroes villain Validus is the Collect and Connect figure for wave 15. What are your thoughts and reactions?

First Official Look at DCU Wave 15 and Fall JLU Singles

Fans,

Oh DCU, how do we love thee? Let us count the ways… let’s see, Wave 1, Wave 2, Wave 3… Wave 15! Yep, Wave 15 is coming to retailers late this summer. You’ll find these figures first at Kmart in late August/early September, then retailers everywhere in the fall. Collect all seven figures and you’ll have everything you need to create a villainous Validus Collect and Connect™ figure!

DCU Wave 15

  • Golden Pharaoh — Complete your “Super Powers” collection! Golden Pharaoh is armed with his Pyramid Power staff and rocks a  transparent purple torso and collar.
  • Classic Starman –Traditional version of Starman is well equipped with his Cosmic Rod and a Stellar Energy Pistol. Celestial crime fighting was never so much fun!
  • Modern Starman — The updated version of Starman lands with his trusty Cosmic Rod and features contemporary translucent parts.
  • OMAC — He’s not bad, he’s just built that way! Cyborg OMAC is rendered in dramatic detail in his first outing as an action figure.
  • Martian Manhunter — Two versions will be released, so it’ll be your turn to hunt the hunter for both the standard figure and the hard-to-find chase version with Martian head and “weapon” hand!
  • Raven — Stunning and smart, the Fan’s Choice winner comes to life as a magnificent action figure.
  • Sinestro Corps Batman — Commemorating his near-indoctrination into the dark side, our hero comes with a transparent Batarang ring construct.
  • Jemm – We’re fairly certain the Injustice Gang has their eye on MattyCollector.com as the Son of Saturn gets ready to make his first-ever appearance as an action figure.
  • Validus — Collect all 7 figures above to create this fearsome 9” Collect and Connect™ figure! Validus arrives with a crystal-clear head dome to reveal his heinously huge brain.

And since we’re on a roll counting ways we dig DCU, let’s talk about the five JLU singles coming to a Target store near you later this year:

JLU Target Singles

  • Future JLU Superman with Starro Spore — In a double dose of firsts, this release will mark the initial availability of an all-new figure, plus it includes fan-favorite Starro Spore as a never-before-offered accessory!
  • Barry Allan as The Flash with Lightning Bolt — It’s the first time this figure is offered, so you’ll want to catch him before he’s gone in a… well, you know…
  • Power Ring — Evil twins everywhere will rejoice when Power Ring joins their ranks for the first time as an action figure. Features a giant green hand construct.
  • Batman Beyond with Batarang — Available for the first time as a single, Batman is ready to battle the bad guys when stocked with this staple from his arsenal.
  • Mr. Terrific — Also making his big debut as a single, the ever-present T-spheres have been completely redesigned.

When we get more information on release dates, we’ll let you know when you can expect to find these DCU must-haves. Until then, happy hunting!

Masters of the Universe Classics San Diego Comic-Con Exclusive Orko and Prince Adam Packaged Pics

Mattel shared packaged pics of the SDCC exclusive Masters of the Universe Classics Orko. I’m wondering if people who keep their MOTUC collection carded are bothered that this package is slightly larger to accommodate the Prince Adam pack-in that you can make out lying at the bottom of the bubble. I suppose there wasn’t a way to keep the packaging size consistent even without hiding Adam to keep focus on Orko.

Just got in carded samples! Enjoy and have a great weekend everyone.

SDCC version of Orko with color change figure and book! Both versions will come with the same Prince Adam and the same pack out. The card is a bit larger compared to a standard figure.

Orko’s package back. This will be the same for both the SDCC version and the Mattycollector.com version!

Jazwares A-Team Movie Toy Line Press Pics

I guess I’m dating myself, but I’m old enough to have seen The A-Team when it was on TV. Sure, it’s somewhat corny, but with an eclectic set of characters, car chases, explosions, and a few laughs, it seems like a slam dunk for adaptation to the big screen. If you’ve never seen the TV show, you can watch the A-Team on Hulu.

The toys, both in 3 3/4-inch and 12-inch scale, for the upcoming movie were just featured on the MTV Movies Blog, and Jazwares was kind enough to share the pics with us.
