Two-Bad Makes Mattycollector May Early Access a Can’t-Miss

Masters of the Universe Classics Rio Blast and DC Universe Classics Aquaman and Robin also available

Mattycollector May Sale

Blast Attak, this month’s Club Eternia figure, may be considered a dud by many Masters of the Universe Classics fans, but Early Access this month is sure to be a madhouse – that’s because Mattycollector is making Two-Bad available. As some of you may recall, during the subscription drive for the 2014 Club Eternia, Mattel announced that Two-Bad would have no day of sales inventory, leading to much angst from the fan base and presumably to more subscriptions.

What remains to be sold during is likely the customer service stock for the figure – so be prepared for a massive rush followed by a quick sell-out. Adding to the mayhem are two of the final DC Universe Classics figures – Aquaman with his hook hand and the Damian Wayne Robin, both with their own draw. Rio Blast rounds out Early Access.

Early Access has Two-Bad, Rio Blast, Aquaman and Robin, and opens tomorrow at 8AM PST. All Access adds Blast Attak, and will open up at 9AM on Friday.

“Soft” Breasts on Play Arts Kai Quiet Set off Twitter Storm

Soft Breasts on Play Arts Kai Quiet Set off Twitter StormA tweet from game designer Hideo Kojima has set off a minor storm on Twitter among gamers. Kojima, the creator of Metal Gear Solid, posted pics of the upcoming Play Arts Kai Quiet, due for release on May 15, revealing that a supervisor of the action figure’s production, presumably from Square Enix, has stated the figure’s breasts will be made of soft material that allows them to be “pushed and lifted.”

Quiet is one of the playable characters to be featured in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, due out in September this year. It’s not the first time the character has been the center of some controversy. When she was first introduced, Kojima tweeted about having game designers make her more “erotic,” then later offered an explanation of what he meant.

SDCC 2015: Mezco Toyz Reveals Mortal Kombat X Sub-Zero Exclusive

Pre-orders for 6-inch Sub-Zero Ice Clone start May 12

Mezco Mortal Kombat X Sub-Zero Ice Clone exclusive 1

Mezco has revealed the first of its exclusives for San Diego Comic-Con, the Sub-Zero ice clone from Mortal Kombat X. Recreated in 3D using the digital assets from the Mortal Kombat X video game and produced in translucent ice blue, this limited edition Sub-Zero will fit in great with the rest of the upcoming Mortal Kombat X figures from Mezco.

I am pretty sure this will be a much better Con exclusive than the Sub Zero I picked up from Jazwares many years ago. I remember opening that sucker up right on the show floor, only for its head to fall off. I put it back in the box and never opened it again. That one hurt.

But that’s another era and another licensor – I’ve liked what I’ve seen from Mezco on this line thus far. But what I’m really waiting for is for some One:12 Collective goodness to be announced. It has begun!

SDCC 2015: Mattel Reveals First Con Exclusives for Ghostbusters and Masters of the Universe Classics

Pre-orders for Courtroom Battle Egon, Rotar vs Twistoid, and Hover Robots start 5/28

Mattel SDCC 2015 Exclusives - Ghostbusters Egon, Masters of the Univers Classics Rotar vs Twistoid and Hover Robots

The gang at Mattycollector has started their reveals for San Diego Comic-Con. I am a little surprised that first out of the gate is the Courtroom Battle Egon Spengler from Ghostbusters – it’s been a few years since the courtroom versions of Venkman (2011) and Stantz (2012) were released with the Scoleri brothers, so it might be a tough sell except for the Ghostbuster fans who must complete that trio. I think the suit coloring is a little light, but might make for some better contrast with the other two.

From Masters of the Universe Classics comes the Rotar vs Twistoid 2-pack, which harkens back to Rokkon and Stonedar from two years ago – let’s see if there’s some price creep from the $60 those cost. And we’ll also see the return of the Hover Robots 3-pack, which is the traveling convention exclusive. Somehow I suspect that will be the toughest of the three exclusives to get.

Mattel will use the same system as last year, with pick-up at the show nearby the Convention Center. The pre-order vouchers will go up for sale May 28 for Early Access, and June 1 for All Access.

Stay tuned for more reveals. What do you think they’ll have for DC Comics exclusives this year?

Three A Toys Marvel Ultron Pre-Order High Res Pics

3A Toys Marvel Ultron 01

The 3A Toys Marvel Ultron is up for pre-order now at Bambaland in three colorways (classic, shadow, and ghost) for $220 each. These are shown with bluish white LEDs for the light-up function – 3A will send a red LED version upon request. After you’ve added Ultron to your shopping cart, there’ll be a message text box where you can enter a message to 3A’s customer service folks for your order.

Since I missed the 3AA window this year (by an hour, argh) I’ve been rethinking every item that’s gone into the shopping cart. The red LED option got my money, but I think that’s just icing – I probably would have pre-ordered Ultron regardless. I had a hard time choosing between classic and shadow. Classic won out in the end – hard to fight the chrome plated look.

Still need convincing? Check out these high-res images from 3A’s Ultron Look Book.
