Hot Toys Reveals Batman Returns Figures

Michael Keaton Batman available solo or with Bruce Wayne in set

Hot Toys Batman Returns Batman and Bruce Wayne

I know a lot of Batman fans that have a special place in their hearts for the Michael Keaton Batman. I’m fond of those movies and how they heralded the return of a more serious approach to the character on the big screen. But I can’t say I was a fan of Keaton in the role – he didn’t fit my image for an action movie star, and he didn’t fit my image for Bruce Wayne.

For those of you who do like Keaton as the Batman, Hot Toys has just revealed two more figures from the Batman Returns sequel. There’s Batman, of course, and then there’s Bruce Wayne. You can pre-order Batman individually, or in a set with Bruce Wayne at Sideshow Collectibles. I hope that Hot Toys continues to work on the Keaton head sculpt – it looks a little off to me at this stage.

Now who’s up for a Michelle Pfeiffer Catwoman?

ThreeA Toys Marvel Ultron Up for Pre-Order May 6

3A Toys Marvel Ultron - classic, stealth, and ghost

I might still be in afterglow from seeing Avengers: Age of Ultron this past weekend, but I think Ultron may be the best Marvel figure to come from 3A Toys yet. Like their previous releases of Iron Man and Doctor Doom, Ultron will be available in three colorways – I am not sure if I prefer the plated chrome “classic” or the brushed metallic “stealth” version (the ghost white is not my thing).

Ultron will feature the Ashley Wood touches that we’ve seen in the other 3A releases, like the individually articulated fingers and over-sized feet, while some elements remain absolutely faithful to the Marvel design, especially Ultron’s head. The figure will have LEDs in the eyes, mouth, and chest – I was hoping for red, but they’ll be a bluish-white.

For the time-zone challenged, Ultron goes up for pre-sale at Bambaland on May 6 at 6PM PST.

Assemble Your Own Avengers (Bears) at the Build-A-Bear Workshop

Build-A-Bear Workshop presents Marvel Avengers Assemble

As if it needed MORE hype, with Avengers 2 premiere in the U.S. today, here’s a plushie aww moment brought to you by Build-A-Bear. You, or some kid you know, can build a Hulk, Thor, Captain America and that narcissist Robert Downey Jr.  Iron Man (same thing). It’s the usual retail racket – accessories and clothing are extra, and TBH I don’t think these bears are all that cute butt naked.

A fully-assembled Avengers Bear with costume and plastic booties will run you $48.50 each, and you can add five sounds for another $7… So you gotta pony up to get super cute and talk like a real Avenger!

Funko Reveals New Garbage Pail Kids

Funko Garbage Pail Kids

It must be #ThrowbackThursday. Funko has gone back 30 years to bring us back some Garbage Pail Kids. They’ve got 3.75-inch figures in a blind boxed format – which is the closest thing you can get to the trading card experience (except for trading cards, of course). But here, you’re getting your favorite GPKs in three dimensions, in vinyl.

And for one of the most rare and valuable Garbage Pail Kids, Funko has made Adam Bomb in 10-inch vinyl. And for a far cry cheaper than what he’s gone for in card format. Nasty!

Webswipe: NECA Unveils Con Exclusive Terminator 2 Endoskeleton – San Diego Comic-Con Unofficial Blog

Glow-in-the-dark Terminator is homage to the classic Kenner line

NECA SDCC exclusive Terminator 2 Retro Endoglow Endoskeleton

NECA is going retro with a couple of its Con exclusives. The SDCC Unofficial Blog got the first look at the Terminator 2 Retro Endoglow Endoskeleton (that’s a mouthful) which will debut at San Diego Comic-Con this July. While the packaging harkens back to the Kenner Terminator 2 line from the 90’s, the figure itself has got modern-day sculpt and articulation from NECA. Even if you’re not a fan of the GITD gimmick, it’s just a paint app that’s unnoticeable in normal light, so this figure should fit in nicely with your Terminator figures from previous NECA runs. And since Terminator: Genisys opens this July, with the iconic Terminator endoskeletons virtually unchanged from their earlier incarnations, this could be the start of your Terminator army if you don’t have one yet.

Action Figure Insider revealed the other Kenner retro exclusive – a nifty translucent Ambush Predator that includes a couple of interchangeable vac-metal masks. Both the Terminator and Predator exclusives will be available at SDCC, other regional cons, and presumably online. Terminated.
