NECA Adds 3 3/4-Inch Scale with Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

With oil and labor prices continuing to pressure toy manufacturers, more companies are looking to the cost-friendly 3 3/4 inch scale for relief. Mezco did this with great results with its Hellboy 2: The Golden Army line, producing figures in both 3 3/4 inch and 7 inch scales.

For the upcoming tentpole feature, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, NECA has followed suit, introducing two action figure lines in the traditional 7 inch scale and now 3 3/4 inches.  They’ve made it a little harder to choose between them – fan favorite Mad Eye Moody will only be available in 7 inches, while Lord Voldemort will only be available in 3 3/4.

I’m looking forward to seeing what NECA can do in the smaller scale.

Who Is The Half-Blood Prince?

NECA’s ready for year six with all-new 7″ and 3 3/4″ Harry Potter figures!

Just in time for the July 15 release of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince in theaters, NECA presents two new lines of figures based on the movie!

It’s Harry Potter’s sixth year at Hogwarts, and aside from the rising power of Voldemort, the mysterious potion book that once belonged to the Half-Blood Prince, the shady doings of Draco Malfoy, private lessons from Dumbledore and the occasional Death Eater, our hero has to deal with having a crush on his best friend Ron Weasley’s sister, Ginny. It’s a wonder he manages to keep his grades up and still have time to be captain of the quidditch team.

NECA is proud to unveil these two new lines of Harry Potter action figures, the first based on the new movie and the next step in the life story of the wizard who changed the face of magic forever. Available in 7″ and 3 3/4″ sizes, each having a figure exclusive to its series, these are our best and most exciting Harry Potter figures yet!

Harry Potter in Cave Scene Outfit (7″ & 3 3/4″) – After he and Dumbledore learn what it’s going to take to defeat Voldemort once and for all, they travel to a seaside cave to find a Horcrux and wind up doing battle with Inferi. Nothing’s ever simple. Figure includes a magic wand and display stand.

Ginny Weasley in School Outfit (7″ & 3 3/4″) – Ron’s younger sister, Harry’s love interest and a pure-blood witch to boot, Ginny has no shortage of roles to play in Dumbledore’s Army, which, incidentally, she named. Figure includes a magic wand and display stand.

Draco Malfoy in School Outfit (7″ & 3 3/4″) – He may or may not be a Death Eater, but Draco Malfoy, like his father before him, is definitely up to no good. Dumbledore had best tread lightly. Figure includes a magic wand and display stand.

Mad-Eye Moody (7″ only) – Alastor Moody, nicknamed Mad-Eye because, well, he’s got a crazy eye patch, is a veteran of the first wizarding war and a powerful ally in the Order of the Phoenix. But just be careful because that mad eye of his, like everything else at Hogwarts, is magical. Figure includes staff and display stand.

Lord Voldemort (3 3/4″ only) – In the world of Harry Potter, Voldemort is the root of all evil, and more than that, he’s almost impossible to defeat. Will Harry be up to the task? Maybe, but even the best victories come at a heavy price. Figure includes wand and display stand.

Comparison Pics of X-Men Origins: Wolverine Deluxe Deadpool

Fwoosher blue devil found the deluxe version of Deadpool from the X-Men Origins: Wolverine line at a Toys R Us in the Vancouver area, and shared some comparison pictures of it with the earlier single-carded release.

Both costumes are from the recent Cable & Deadpool series, and while the costume differences are subtle, the deluxe version depicts the costume he sported later during Patrick Zircher’s run, while the earlier single-carded version looks most like how he was depicted at the start of the series by UDON.

While I like the looks of both, I am more partial to the later costume, and with the extra mass and height of the figure, it’s the clear winner for me.

Exclusive Hellboy 2 Mez-Itz Available at Toys R Us

I never thought I’d be buying designer vinyl toys – that’s something that’s more to my wife’s liking than mine. But one day she bought me a Mighty Muggs Hulk.  (Ok, maybe Muggs don’t qualify as “designer” since they’re targeted at the mass market, but they’re vinyl!)  Since then, I’ve been picking ones up here and there.

One segment where we do overlap is Hellboy vinyl.   She’s bought a few Hellboy Qees and I think these will fit in with those and my Muggs. I’m not sure what to do. Our collecting worlds are colliding.

Toys R Us Exclusive Hellboy Mez-Itz Arriving In Stores This July!

Press Pics of DC Universe Classics Wave 9

Mattel updated their Facebook page with loose and packaged pictures of DC Universe Classics Wave 9 – Black Adam, Black Canary, Guardian, Deadshot, Green Arrow, Mantis (with human and robot variants), and Wildcat (with black and blue variants).  The two Mantises (Mantii?) are labeled as variants, suggesting a close to even ratio, while the blue Wildcat is labeled a chase figure.  They also have a shot of the completed Chemo Collect and Connect figure.  If I’m not mistaken, all the loose pictures with the exception of the blue chase variant of Wildcat are two-ups.

The question now is when these will start hitting shelves.  Most online retailers show this hitting in 3rd quarter, which is right around the corner.  However no auctions with figures in hand or even pre-sales are up on Ebay, so I’m guessing we’ve still got a while to go.
