Hot Toys Reveals The Dark Knight Joker 2.0 MMS DX

I am a huge fan of the original Hot Toys The Dark Knight Joker MMS DX, and they’ve just revealed the second version, which they’re calling Joker 2.0. I can’t tell if the PERS head is changed from the original, but the sequel will come with an alternate laughing head, a bunch of other accessories (including a desk with magic trick pencil – uh oh!) and upgraded cloth goods, which are described in this interview with Hot Toys costume artist Kato.

SDCC 2012: Superman, the Flash, Batman and SDCC Exclusive Bane USB Flash Drives

With The Dark Knight Rises opening the week after Comic-Con, you can bet there’s going to be some Batman and Bane madness. And if you want some portable storage for your SDCC footage of the Warner Bros. panel (or whatever digital media you need to carry in your pocket, you can pick up one of 500 Bane flash drives exclusive to the show. I’m sure they’ll have the rest there too, including the previous runs of Batman and Green Lantern flash drives.

I think Mimoco ought to pick up the Marvel license, so they can make a Leader MIMOBOT.

DC Universe Classics Justice Society of America (Old School)

DCUC Justice Society of America 1 (1280x960)

I’ve been snapping some group shots of teams I have on my shelves, and here’s the latest, of my classic Justice Society of America. I had to reconfigure my photo setup (perhaps a post for another time), and one of the results is that I can take pictures of larger groups (and larger figures). I may have missed spring cleaning, but think this is leading up to some shuffling that I need to do to clear some shelf space. But the JSA is likely going to remain on my shelves – I’ve just got a nostalgic soft spot for whose old cross-over stories in the old Justice League of America comics. Mattel has done pretty well by this team – I’ve only got one minor custom, which was a head replacement for Alan Scott (head size for DCUC figures is another post for another time).

Marvel Legends Moonstar Reveal – Marvel.com

More (Return of) Marvel Legends news from Marvel.com – they’ve got the reveal for Dani Moonstar in her New Mutants costume, due with Deadpool, Punisher, and Blade in wave 3 this September. Hasbro first teased us with Moonstar at the Hasbro Marvel panel at New York Comic Con last October.

Maybe it’s just the picture, but I had hoped for better. She looks like she’s got a little of the pinched head syndrome we saw with early figures in Hasbro’s run. Hasbro has said they’ve learned from the early figures (they highlighted the shortcomings with Emma Frost to wrap up that NYCC panel), so I hope this will be improved with the production figures.

Marvel Legends Card Art and Punisher and Blade Reveals – Marvel.com

A couple of (Return of) Marvel Legends updates from Marvel.com – first up is the card art for Deadpool, Punisher, and Blade, and the reveals for the Punisher and Blade figures.

Hasbro has secured Clayton Crain for RoML series 3, due out in September. The choice is fitting because Deadpool will be reissued, this time in his X-Force colors, and Crain is serving as the artist on that book. This will mark the 3rd variant for this figure – the first two Deadpools came in the Marvel Legends 2-packs from way back in 2010, in his classic red and black and the one issue X-Men blue and yellow. I’m a fan of this Deadpool even though we’ve already seen it a lot – the X-Force version will go great with the SDCC exclusive X-Force 3-pack that will have Wolverine, Archangel, and Psylocke.

Punisher and Blade will continue the Thunderball / Piledriver and Madame Masque / Madame Hydra execution which will feature variant figures sharing the same cardback. I really dig this approach in theory as it gives us another character – in practice I hope availability for the variants become better, since it’s been the aftermarket for me for them so far. Great re-use on these figures – I think they’ll look great. For Punisher, I hope it’s an easy customizing conversion to lose the jacket and give him spandex arms.
