Reminder – Hourly Flash Sales Promised for Mattycollector Cyber Monday

Since the Mattycollector Cyber Monday sale kicked off last Tuesday, four items have sold out. Masters of the Universe Classics Granymyr was first to go, during Early Access. Since then, Hordak, Orko, and Battle Armor Skeletor have joined him.

What could we see during the hourly flash sales? I think the Spirit of Hordak may come out of hiding. Do you think customer service stock for the Horde Trooper 2-pack and subscriber-only figures like Sea Hawk could show up?

7 Days of Cyber Monday

We’ve got 7 whole days of steals, deals and Matty madness! It’s your chance to snag special offers, extra cart discounts, and some hard to find items you’ve been eyeing all year. Early Access starts on Tuesday morning before Black Friday, with All Access on Wednesday morning, and the sale continues until 9:00 a.m. PT on Tuesday morning, 12/3.

Extra Cart Discounts! Save 10% off your entire order if you spend $100-$199 and 20% off your entire order if you spend $200 or more! Please note these extra discounts apply only to discounted items and will not apply to The Cyber 6!.

Be sure you check in often on Monday, 12/2 for hourly flash sales with special pricing that come and go… you never know what you might find!

Here’s What to Expect from Mattycollector Cyber Monday Sale Today

I am still trying to wrap my head around why this eight day sale is called Cyber Monday, but I probably don’t have the mental faculties required to comprehend it. But if you’re heading over to Mattycollector for it, here’s what you can expect to find. When I checked late last night in Early Access, I found only one item had sold out – that was the Masters of the Universe Classics Granymyr for $68 (normally $85). For a lot of folks, that discount would have amounted to free shipping, because that sucker is heavy. Congrats to the Early Access folks who picked him up.

Some of the remaining deals jumped out at me. The Eternian Palace Guards 2-pack didn’t show up for me when I looked in the morning, but they’re there at the top of the page now – and for $27, half off the regular (bumped up) cost of $54. Also half off, and an exceptionally good deal is Battleground Teela – just $10. If you don’t have her, get her!

For those of you who have been holding out for San Diego Comic-Con exclusives – all of the action figure exclusives (except for Monster High, if you count those) are available and on sale. Rokkon and Stonedar, Batusi Batman, big-hooded Captain Marvel, Man of Steel, and even the mini He-Man and Skeletor figures are there. This year I skipped on all of them, except for the MOTU mini-figures, and even on sale I’m probably letting them go. How about you guys? What’s on your list for Matty Cyber Monday?

DC Universe Classics Ozymandias and Ra’s al Ghul Headline Mattycollector 11/15 Sale

Mattycollector November Sale

DC Universe Classics has one of its last big months on Mattycollector, with Ozymandias wrapping up the Black Freighter Watchmen subscription and much-wanted Batman villain Ra’s al Ghul revealing his ugly face – although I’m not sure that was intended. On the Masters of the Universe Classics side, fan-vote winner Geldor should please the mini-comics fans.

And the men of Masters now have a companion to SkirtGate – some are unhappy with the shape of the overlays on some of the new male figures, like Sea Hawk – the engineering on them add some unwanted girth to the already exaggerated torsos.

Here’s your links to early access on 11/14 at 8AM PST (Constantine and Elasti-Girl) and the bundle page for the regular sale on 11/15 at 9AM PST. Enjoy!

Soapbox Sunday: Doomsday Unleashed vs Bound – By the Numbers (Yours)

Doomsday Unleashed vs Bound

Last week, I suggested that Mattel is making a mistake by choosing the “bound” or “jail-suit” version of Doomsday for its San Diego Comic-Con exclusive next year. To summarize, I put forth that most people would prefer the “unleashed” version of the monster that killed Superman, and that with 2014 being the swan song for DC Universe Classics, going out on a whimper would be a disappointment to fans and Mattel alike.

And then I put it to you and asked which Doomsday would you prefer. So far, a couple hundred of you voted, and I’ve taken a look at the results – are any surprises in store?

Soapbox Sunday: Mattel SDCC Exclusive DC Universe Classics Doomsday Bound to be a Disappointment

Mattycollector Club Eternia Doomsday Comparison

Shortly after Club Infinite Earth failed to meet the minimums to make another year of DC Universe Classics figures on Mattycollector, we Asked Matty if the Doomsday Unleashed figure could be considered as a San Diego Comic-Con exclusive for 2014. Basically, Mattel said no. But after New York Comic Con, we’ve got another angle – they won’t make the “unleashed” version, but they’re “far enough along” with the “bound” or jail-suit version to offer him up for SDCC next July.

During the NYCC Mattypalooza panel, when Toy Guru announced the plans for the jail-suit version of Doomsday, he noted that this particular version of Doomsday has never been made into a figure before. Maybe Mattel should have considered the reasons why. I’m betting that the vast majority of collectors would prefer the unleashed version, and that if Mattel proceeds with their current plan for the jail-suit version, it’s bound to be a disappointment for fans, and for their SDCC sales.
