Four Horsemen Announce Delay to Kickstarter Gothitropolis Ravens – But Looks to be Worth It

We’d heard from the Four Horsemen that there were some issues with the sizing of the Gothitropolis Ravens and were expecting some delays to come from that. They’ve just announced that they expect it to be about a 2 month delay. Originally targeted at March, this would mean May at the soonest.

I continue to be very bullish on this project – the 4H have always striven to deliver quality products, and when they’ve had missteps they’ve corrected them. While I’d love to have my ravens now, I’m happy to wait for them to get it right. They’ve shared a ton of pics – it looks like they’re making great progress.

Four Horsemen Explain Size Issues with Kickstarter Gothitropolis Ravens

The Four Horsemen have provided a couple of updates on the size issue they revealed when they shared pics of rough samples of their Kickstarter-funded Gothitropolis Ravens. Apparently, the cause was some lack of clarity on how the figures are intended to mimic actual bird anatomy. The Horsemen had provided height specifications for the figures based on how real birds stand – with legs bent. The factory produced the first samples with the legs fully extended – so when the legs were bent as intended, the size issue comes into play.

The good news is that the factory has already re-sized the figures. But the flip side is that some clean-up is required on the details on the new ones. The Ravens were originally estimated to be delivered in the March timeframe. There will almost certainly be some delay because of the size issue, but the Horsemen have not yet provided guidance on that. I’m happy to wait for a better quality product – I know they will deliver.

The production process for the Four Horsemen’s Kickstarter-backed Gothitropolis Ravens project is underway. One of the first steps is for the production factory to “shrink” the 4H’s 2-up sculpts to their final size, via a process called pantographing. They’ve sent the first rough cuts after the pantographing for the 4H to review.

While the parts look great, the Four Horsemen have said that they were reduced in size a little too much. To fix this will likely delay the release date, originally targeted at March next year – but no word yet on how much. I’m sure most fans won’t fret too much – I’d rather get the figures done right versus rushing to get them out the door.

Power-Con 2013 Pics by ActionFiguresRule

Once again, I wasn’t able to go to Power-Con, which was held a couple weekends ago. Luckily for me, our buddy Richard, aka ActionFiguresRule, from the MATRIX Photo Booth and AFR Studio sent us over a hundred pics he snapped at the event.

There’s cosplay, internet and media personalities, Masters of the Universe Classics, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and the Four Horsemen properties – Gothitropolis Ravens, Power Lords, and Outer Space Men. Richard even captured portions of the Power-Con auction and cosplay contest. Fun stuff!

Four Horsemen Share Updates for Gothitropolis Ravens Add-Ons

Gothitropolis Raven - Final Wings Gothitropolis Raven - Bone Wings and Skull Gothitropolis Raven - Flamingo Gothitropolis Raven - Stand

The Four Horsemen may be busy with Power Lords and Outer Space Men exclusives, but that doesn’t mean they’ve been neglecting their Gothitropolis Ravens Kickstarter project for the Fantastic Exclusive. They recently posted a few updates with the latest on items that were still works in progress when the Kickstarter project completed its funding drive.

The wings and bone wings / skull add-ons were part of the original set of stretch goals that were present when the project launched. The Flamingo was an add-on figure that got added to the mix late in the game, after the Screaming Eagle was unlocked. And the action figure stands were put in as a $3 add-on (yes, just three dollars) close to the end of the funding.

If you’re a backer, please take note – the fulfillment surveys for the project close out this Friday.
