Marvel Avengers Assemble (Successor to Marvel Universe) In Stock at Amazon

Marvel Avengers Assemble Cosmic Strike Red Skull Figure Marvel Avengers Assemble Inferno Cannon Black Widow Figure Marvel Avengers Assemble Sky Attack Falcon Figure

The first wave of the new Marvel Avengers Assemble line is in stock now at Amazon. Avengers Assemble is the result of Hasbro’s brand refresh for the Marvel Universe line. It’s intended to match Marvel Universe in terms of sculpt, articulation, and paint, while making it more accessible for both retailers and kids – the line leverages the success of the Avengers movie, and includes accessories with action features.

I’d say the first wave is a fair example of what to expect. With the collector-oriented figures we see the sculpt and articulation we have grown to love in MU – for example, Falcon comes with rocker ankles, hip swivels, and double knees. The more heavily packed big hitters of Captain America, Iron Man, and Hulk are not as compelling. I think Hasbro knows it needs only appeal to the lowest common denominator with them, and aren’t trying as hard.

CustomCon 35 Wraps Up – Day Two

CustomCon 35 Day 2

It’s time for Summer CustomCon again! CustomCon 35 is hosted by our good friend Joe Acevedo, and wraps up with Day Two.

CustomCon is a fictional toy show, showcasing the work of action figure customizers. You won’t find these toys in your local toy store – at least not right away. I’ve heard from several toy makers that they often get inspiration from customs. So you never know! (Check out previous CustomCons and see for yourself.)

Day 2 features four entries: Superman The Animated Series 2014, a set of 3 3/4-inch Gotham’s Most Wanted figures, busts showing The Evolution of Magneto and Mystique, and another group of Game of Thrones busts. Enjoy!

Border Patrol: Marvel Legends Mutants – Rogue, Cyclops, and Juggernaut

Marvel Legends Rogue 1 Marvel Legends Rogue 2

Marvel Legends Jim Lee Rogue by Draubner – I don’t remember when it was in the comics that Rogue turned into another hot X-Female – when she first showed up as an X-Men baddie, she was short-haired and homely – I don’t think it was Jim Lee’s doing, but he certainly designed one of Rogue’s most popular looks, and this custom captures it with an envy-worthy smooth paint job – ends soon at Aug 06, 2013 11:32:42 PDT

In AFP’s Border Patrol, we scour active eBay auctions for customized action figures that you won’t want to let slip by!

AFP Free Stuff Giveaway – SDCC 2013 Exclusive Marvel Universe Deadpool Corps Taco Truck

Marvel Legends Deadpool with Marvel Universe Deadpool Corps SDCC 2013 Exclusive

If you’ve been following AFP for a while, you probably know that I love Deadpool – so when I had a chance, I bought the San Diego Comic-Con exclusive Marvel Universe Deadpool Corps that comes ingeniously packaged in a taco truck. But as cool as the taco truck is, I’ve found that I just can’t get by my low regard for the comic book mini-series that spawned this 6-pack of of Deadpool, Lady Deadpool, Kidpool, Dogpool, Squirrelpool, and the Champion of the Universe. I mean, just typing that in has me shaking my head with disdain. So, instead of keeping this exclusive, I’ve decided to put it up for grabs in a special AFP Free Stuff giveaway.

(Note: Marvel Legends Deadpool, who is confused at my decision to buy something just to decide to give it away, is not part of this giveaway. Him, I’m keeping!)

It’s easy to enter, so while there can only be one winner of this contest, I hope that my dislike of a comic book will result in you getting your hands on a sold-out San Diego Comic-Con exclusive. And if you’re already a fan of the AFP Facebook page or follow the AFP Twitter account, you can un-like and un-follow and then re-like and re-follow using the contest widget, for those extra shots at winning this giveaway. Spread the word and good luck!
