Hot Toys Avengers Movie Lineup – Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, Hulk, Loki, and More

It was nearly three years ago that Hot Toys secured the Marvel movie license. Arguably, their biggest success has been the Iron Man figures from the two film and counting franchise that has spawned a figure or two for each version of the armor as well as a couple of the supporting characters. But with the success of The Avengers movie that shattered domestic box office records with its $207.4MM opening last weekend, we could see a new cash cow for Hot Toys. I suppose it’s more of a life extension for the existing cash cow, as Iron Man is also part of this team.

DC Universe Classics Crime Syndicate of America Johnny Quick and Power Ring Customs by Ibentmyman-thing

When the Wal-Mart exclusive DC Universe Classics Crime Syndicate 5-pack was released, I knew I would have to complete at least one of the teams with customs. Mattel’s decision to split the set up with both modern and classic versions of the evil Justice League analogues left me with three members of each team. On the classic front, I had Ultraman (from the MattyCollector DCUC Battle for Earth 3 2-pack), Johnny Quick, and Power Ring. For modern, I had Ultraman, Super Woman, and Owlman.

Ibentmyman-thing had already made a custom of the classic Owlman, so I asked him if he would make modern versions of Johnny Quick and Power Ring.

Masters of the Universe Classics Vykron Headlines a Puzzling Line-Up of Mattel’s SDCC Exclusives for 2012

Maybe it’s just me, but with the San Diego Comic-Con exclusives Mattel revealed yesterday, I am starting to think they are losing touch with their core market for their collector-oriented lines – the little boys that grew up with toys from He-Man and DC Comics and now have a strong nostalgic pull toward their grown-up versions. I understand the Cars, the Tiny Titans and the Polly Pockets – those same guys now have little boys and girls of their own, and SDCC has become a family event. But the rest seem odd or somehow miss the mark.
