So I may not be buying a Legendary Scale Doctor Doom from Sideshow, but a LEGO Doctor Doom minifigure might fit in the budget. This Saturday in Toys R Us stores would make sense. From Noon to 2PM on 10/19 (that’s tomorrow), Toys R Us is holding a special in-store promotion – build a LEGO Joker mini-mech-bot and take it home for free. And there’s more – if you buy over $20 worth of qualifying LEGO Batman, you can get Robin and his Redbird cycle, also for free. Same goes with $20 or more of LEGO Marvel Super Heroes – you get a free Iron Man.
As you can imagine, supplies will be limited, so get there early and build away! Happy shopping!
Yeah, I’m just doing some pretty legendary wishful thinking this weekend, looking at this Legendary Scale Doctor Doom by Sideshow Collectibles. It’s over four feet tall. It weighs 35 pounds. Doom comes with classic, modern, and scarred head sculpts. Damn you, Reed Richards! Over 15 artists contributed to making the figure. Wow.
It’s up for pre-order for the low low price of $1,999.99 – and that’s before tax and shipping. So only the biggest Dr. Doom fans with a toy budget the size of Latveria’s GDP would be really thinking of getting this figure. Who dares order Dr. Doom? Not me – as much as I fear Dr. Doom, my wife is scarier.
Building the Back to the Future Time Machine got me thinking about other movies that could benefit from the LEGO treatment. Then I found the work of Alex Eylar. Check out the iconic movie scenes that he’s put together. Sure, there’s some scenes that he’s created using bricks that come from actual licensed sets, like Star Wars, but a lot of the scenes that he’s recreated are fully from scratch. Really cool stuff!
A few weeks ago I was contacted by a guy from a press agency, who proposed building a few movie scenes to form a press packet of sorts to shop around to the news outlets.
Right now, Woot has Mimobot Flash Drives from DC Comics on sale for 28 to 32% off list prices. They’ve got two versions of Batman, Robin, the Joker, Catwoman, Superman, and the Flash. They’ve also got other properties like Hello Kitty and South Park. On top of the flash drives, each Mimobot comes with special desktop backgrounds, avatars, and media files that are unique to each Mimobot.
I can’t see how anybody could resist a Flash flash drive. In fact, last time I checked, the 32GB version was sold out, but a 16GB Flash is still available. Sale ends tomorrow but I think these will move fast. No Flash pun intended.
Mimobot USB Flash Drives
You don’t have to be a fan of all of these characters to get some enjoyment out of your Mimobot USB devices. Just say “The Flash flash drive” enough times, and you’ll know what we’re talking about.
