Marvel Select fans – here’s your chance to win Marvel prizes from Diamond Select Toys in their Mega-Sized Marvel Select Photo Contest!

Break out your digital camera or smartphone, and start snapping. You can use as much or as little as you want from the Marvel Select line from the past 11 years, including figures and accessories, but nothing else. That means no customs and no figures or accessories from other lines. Also, DST wants you to highlight the figures, so no Photoshop or captions either.

There’s three prize packs in total, consisting of Marvel Select figures and unique or rare prototypes from the line. Makes me with I had more Marvel Select figures so I could compose a group shot worthy of the prizes. I’ve got an idea for a picture – you guys want to see it?

Mattel Teases Modulok Art and Filmation Sword for Club Eternia Subs

Bless their hearts. Mattel is continuing the push for Club Eternia subscriptions by providing more teases during the final days of pre-orders for the sub.

Modulok was one of the Masters figures I didn’t have when I was a kid, but I can still appreciate why he’s in such demand by Masters of the Universe Classics fans. I would have thought between him and Two Bad that Club Eternia would have plenty of legs to push further than we are with subscriptions. Regarding the “mystery” sword, I know it wasn’t meant to be difficult to see that this will be the first Filmation power sword in the line. However, Mattel marketers take note: naming the image “HeMan_Filmation_Sword” was a dead giveaway. 😀

Now, let’s see if these new teases gives Club Eternia a pop in the sub numbers. The subscription window closes on August 19.

Hasbro MP-02 Masterpiece Soundwave

Soundwave IMG_3007

Hasbro continues their recent yearly tradition of bringing over Takara’s amazing Masterpiece Transformers with the new Masterpiece Soundwave. Hasbro really stepped up their game this year however, including all of the currently release cassette tape minions along with Soundwave. These cassettes had been sold separately in Japan and the inclusion of all of them in this set was a big surprise to most fans, especially considering the price of $119 that this set sold for. To put that in perspective, the Takara 2-packs of cassettes were $60 each, and this set includes Soundwave and 5 tapes, as well as a slew of accessories.

This Day in Star Wars: August 13, 2013 (Well, Yesterday Actually)

This-day-in-Star-Wars

Yesterday afternoon, I saw this image of a TIE Fighter on the Gentle Giant Facebook page. And as I was thinking about how old the date on the picture made me feel, the UPS truck pulled up and dropped off the first of three boxes with the new Star Wars Black Series action figures from Hasbro. There’s nothing like toys to make you feel young again!

Thinking that this must be the workings of the living Force, I decided to add another auspicious date in Star Wars history. You don’t want to know how long it took, with me bumbling around in Photoshop. Suffice to say, I feel old again.

Incidentally, it’s Amazon that started filling orders first (and I don’t know why they shipped my order in 3 separate boxes) – I had found it available for pre-order there first, and then at ToysRUs.com later, and ended up with orders with both. I went back to check, and it looks like all the Star Wars Black Series 6-inch figures are back in stock at Amazon, for the regular $19.99 price. If you are still looking, that’s the best way I’ve found to get them individually (letting you army build the Sandtroopers.) My wallet has a bad feeling about this.
