Kickstarter Monday: Four Horsemen Launch Mythic Legions Campaign

Four Horsemen Mythic Legions Kickstarter 1

Two years ago at Toy Fair, the Four Horsemen announced plans for their Kickstarter campaign for the Gothitropolis Ravens, which ended up being a runaway success. Today they’ve launched their next campaign, a new fantasy Fantastic Exclusive line called Mythic Legions.

When I talked to them at San Diego Comic-Con last year, they were leaning toward a 4-inch, Glyos-compatible line, similar to their line of Outer Space Men. Because I’m more of a fan of 1/12 scale, I was pleased that they ultimately settled on Mythic Legions being a super-articulated 6-inch line, which will mean these figures will stand side by side with Gothitropolis and Seventh Kingdom figures.

Will the Four Horsemen be able to catch lightning in a bottle a second time on Kickstarter? That’s up to you!

Soapbox Sunday (the Late Edition): Online Feud Exposes the Ugly Side of the Toy Review Business

The Critic

There’s an old adage – do what you love, and the money will follow. In the world of toys (and probably every other industry), they should have inserted “sometimes.” There are some good examples where it works, like the customizer who parlayed his considerable talents into a professional sculpting career. There’s a lot of bad, like the dirty rotten scalpers who try to legitimize their businesses by opening “professional” online stores.

And then there’s the ugly. Yes, I’m talking about some “professional” toy reviewers.

Weekend Toy Run: Get a Life-Size Rocket Raccoon (on Any Budget)

Hasbro had this life-size action figure of Rocket Raccoon (yes, its arms are poseable!) on display at San Diego Comic-Con last year, and after I saw Guardians of the Galaxy, I wanted one for myself. Sure, I got the Marvel Legends figure, but having something at 1/12 scale when you’ve seen it at 1/1… well, it’s just not enough.

Luckily for you and me, if you want a Rocket Raccoon that’s big enough to climb a real tree or tree-like friend, you can buy one – even if you’re not made of money. Here’s a range of options for a life-size Rocket Raccoon for your collection, depending on how many credits you scored for that Infinity Gem orb.

Watch Marvel Super Heroes: What The–?! – Ultron’s Master Plan

Ultron’s Master Plan – Marvel Super Heroes What The-- Ep 39

We’ve still got a few more months before The Avengers: Age of Ultron opens on May 1, but if you are looking for the latest reveals, the Marvel Super Heroes: What The–?! crew is happy to oblige, with the living automaton himself laying out the entire plot. What’s that, you say? This bears no resemblance to what’s teased in the Avengers 2 trailer? Go figure.

Toy Fair 2015: Mezco Reveals One:12 Collective Mutant Leader from The Dark Knight Returns

Mezco is holding a pre-Toy Fair preview this morning (sadly, I can’t be there) and teased this on their Facebook page – the Mutant Leader from The Dark Knight Returns, for their One:12 Collective line. I think Buzzy Fret put it best when he emailed me early this morning: “Holy crap!!”

Can’t wait to see what else they have in store for us this year – we’ll get a closer look at Toy Fair in just a little over a week.

"You don't get it boy...this isn't a mud-hole...it's an operating table. And I'm the surgeon."
