NYCC 2015: Bandai S.H. Figuarts TMNT, DragonBall Z, Sailor Moon and More

NYCC 2015 - Bandai Tamashii Nations Bluefin (1 of 31)

The Bluefin booth is always a favorite stop due to its wide variety of Bandai’s Tamashii Nations S.H. Figuarts licenses. The unveiling of a retro cartoon-based Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles line was the highlight for many – for me it’s got the nostalgia factor, but I’m vary happy with the comics-based line we got from NECA and the upcoming Turtles from Mondo. Still, I know this will fill a gap for many collectors looking for super-poseable Turtles from the old cartoon.

There was plenty more to see, including DragonBall Z, Sailor Moon, the Star Wars “realization” samurai-themed line (with new Boba Fett), Naruto, and Super Mario Bros. The Nintendo line adds more characters via another diorama set and a new Bowser figure. And, I am really looking forward to that Bruce Lee figure, even though it will likely be a standalone figure with other Bruce Lee variants possible.

SDCC 2015: Hot Toys – Star Wars, Marvel, and Terminator

SDCC 2015 Hot Toys (1 of 51)

One booth stop I must make every year at Comic-Con is Sideshow Collectibles, to see the Hot Toys they’ve got on display. But it’s a bit of an odd licensing vs. distribution conundrum this year, for all parties involved. Hot Toys has started cranking out the Star Wars figures, and Sideshow is their distributor in the States. But Sideshow has also held their own Star Wars license for longer than Hot Toys has. Coopetition?

Let’s see what Hot Toys has done in the short time they’ve held their Star Wars license, and see what else they’re up to.

SDCC 2015: Funko Exclusives Reveals Week 1 of 3

SDCC 2015 Funko Exclusives Reveals Week 1 of 3

I never realized just how many exclusives Funko produces each year for San Diego Comic-Con. They’re revealing them in batches, and we’ve collected the first week’s announcements here. They span their Dorbz, Hikari, Pop, ReAction, and Vinyl Idolz product lines, and covers their DC, Marvel, Disney, Hanna Barbera, Ghostbusters, Breaking Bad, and Dragonball Z licenses… just to name a few!

Unlike previous years, Funko is not offering the option to pre-order.

We should have two more updates with more Funko exclusives before the big show.
