CC36: DC Universe Classics Ultimate Doomsday by Batman55

CC36 DCUC Ultimate Doomsday 19

After Mattel announced the cancellation of 2014 DCIE series that included 2 versions of Doomsday figure, I felt regret about not being able to see the long awaited figure released. Then just last week, I found out Mattel has decided to release only Containment Suit Doomsday in the next SDCC. Relinquishing a hope to see THE UNLEASHED VERSION, I decided to make my own doomsday that shares the same articulations and details to some degree with DCUC figures. The only base body that I could find compatible in terms of size and similar physical features was Marvel Select Avengers Hulk. Before I began putting things together, I had to research various images and old custom figures done by others as a reference.

Border Patrol: Marvel Legends Sif, WWE Elite Hulk Hogan, 1/6 Scale Blade Runner

Marvel Legends Sif WWE Elite Hulk Hogan One Sixth Scale Blade Runner

This week’s customs are all high up on my want-but-can’t-have list:

  • Marvel Legends SIF by JLA – I really do wish that Hasbro had gotten on the ball and made a Thor Marvel Legends wave or two – although I’m generally not enthused by using DC Universe Classics figures for Marvel characters (and vice versa), this custom really works out well – I’ll have to compare the sizes to newer ML Thor, though, because I wonder how Sif measures up – ends Dec 07, 2013 20:49:30 PST
  • WWE Elite Hulk Hogan by 1more2come – this is a relatively simple custom but fills a gap in all our Mattel WWE Legends collections – with Hulk recently re-upping with TNA, it’d take a miracle to get him in the Mattel WWE line-up, even if it’s just a flashback figure – it’s too bad Marvel Toys / Toy Biz is no longer in the game with its TNA figures – ends today, Dec 03, 2013 18:47:19 PST
  • 1/6 Scale Blade Runner Rick Deckard by thebatmancollector – this custom combines elements from Sideshow Collectibles, Hot Toys, and costuming from Android Hunter – I think there’s enough of a cult following for Blade Runner that Sideshow or Hot Toys could pick it up – if Sideshow can make a Snake Plissken, certainly there’d be more options for figures from Blade Runner – ends today, Dec 03, 2013 15:16:18 PST

In AFP’s Border Patrol, we scour active eBay auctions for customized action figures that you won’t want to let slip by!

Custom action figure fans, CustomCon36 will start next Tuesday, December 10. If you have a last minute entry for CustomCon 36, please contact me if you need just a little more time.

Reminder – Hourly Flash Sales Promised for Mattycollector Cyber Monday

Since the Mattycollector Cyber Monday sale kicked off last Tuesday, four items have sold out. Masters of the Universe Classics Granymyr was first to go, during Early Access. Since then, Hordak, Orko, and Battle Armor Skeletor have joined him.

What could we see during the hourly flash sales? I think the Spirit of Hordak may come out of hiding. Do you think customer service stock for the Horde Trooper 2-pack and subscriber-only figures like Sea Hawk could show up?

7 Days of Cyber Monday

We’ve got 7 whole days of steals, deals and Matty madness! It’s your chance to snag special offers, extra cart discounts, and some hard to find items you’ve been eyeing all year. Early Access starts on Tuesday morning before Black Friday, with All Access on Wednesday morning, and the sale continues until 9:00 a.m. PT on Tuesday morning, 12/3.

Extra Cart Discounts! Save 10% off your entire order if you spend $100-$199 and 20% off your entire order if you spend $200 or more! Please note these extra discounts apply only to discounted items and will not apply to The Cyber 6!.

Be sure you check in often on Monday, 12/2 for hourly flash sales with special pricing that come and go… you never know what you might find!

Important Note: Cart discounts do not apply to full price items. Mattel reserves the right to change the sale price at any time and all sales are final. All items are limited to stock on hand. Refunds for defective items only; no replacements.

Here’s What to Expect from Mattycollector Cyber Monday Sale Today

I am still trying to wrap my head around why this eight day sale is called Cyber Monday, but I probably don’t have the mental faculties required to comprehend it. But if you’re heading over to Mattycollector for it, here’s what you can expect to find. When I checked late last night in Early Access, I found only one item had sold out – that was the Masters of the Universe Classics Granymyr for $68 (normally $85). For a lot of folks, that discount would have amounted to free shipping, because that sucker is heavy. Congrats to the Early Access folks who picked him up.

Some of the remaining deals jumped out at me. The Eternian Palace Guards 2-pack didn’t show up for me when I looked in the morning, but they’re there at the top of the page now – and for $27, half off the regular (bumped up) cost of $54. Also half off, and an exceptionally good deal is Battleground Teela – just $10. If you don’t have her, get her!

For those of you who have been holding out for San Diego Comic-Con exclusives – all of the action figure exclusives (except for Monster High, if you count those) are available and on sale. Rokkon and Stonedar, Batusi Batman, big-hooded Captain Marvel, Man of Steel, and even the mini He-Man and Skeletor figures are there. This year I skipped on all of them, except for the MOTU mini-figures, and even on sale I’m probably letting them go. How about you guys? What’s on your list for Matty Cyber Monday?

Mattycollector Cyber Monday Sale Starts Tuesday and Lasts Eight Days

I’ve got a feeling that the marketing folks at Mattel just gave up when trying to name this sale that starts tomorrow. Sure, the Cyber Monday sale includes a Monday, but it starts on a Tuesday and it lasts eight days (not seven, as the promo claims) when you count Early Access. To make your brain jump through more hoops, Mattel highlights four items out of the “Cyber 6” (shown above) – these items aren’t discounted at all during the sale.

Most non Cyber 6 items will be up to 30% off. Some will be up to 50% off. And then you can get 10% or 20% more discount if you spend over $100 or $200. And then next Monday (ahh, Cyber Monday!) there will be hourly flash sales, including the two non-revealed Cyber 6 items that aren’t discounted. Confused yet? Come up with a name for this sale that makes sense and you can probably get a job at Mattel.
