DC Universe Classics Ozymandias and Ra’s al Ghul Headline Mattycollector 11/15 Sale

DC Universe Classics has one of its last big months on Mattycollector, with Ozymandias wrapping up the Black Freighter Watchmen subscription and much-wanted Batman villain Ra’s al Ghul revealing his ugly face – although I’m not sure that was intended. On the Masters of the Universe Classics side, fan-vote winner Geldor should please the mini-comics fans.

And the men of Masters now have a companion to SkirtGate – some are unhappy with the shape of the overlays on some of the new male figures, like Sea Hawk – the engineering on them add some unwanted girth to the already exaggerated torsos.

Ask Matty Q&A for 11/1

Hope you had a good Halloween! Here’s some treats from the gang at Mattel.

1) With regards to 2014 / 2015, you’ve said that since there are two Snake Men left it’s likely to see them split across the two years. Does the same kind of rationale apply to Stridor and Night Stalker? Or is there too much tooling to consider them in the “big hitters” category that qualify for the next two years?

Our goal for 2014-2015 is to release all of the basic figures. How many beast or vehicles released has yet to be announced. We can tell you the more tooling a beast or vehicle has the less likely it will be released ?(unless a basic vintage figure like “Gwildor” etc.. which we will prioritize).

Soapbox Sunday: Doomsday Unleashed vs Bound – By the Numbers (Yours)

Last week, I suggested that Mattel is making a mistake by choosing the “bound” or “jail-suit” version of Doomsday for its San Diego Comic-Con exclusive next year. To summarize, I put forth that most people would prefer the “unleashed” version of the monster that killed Superman, and that with 2014 being the swan song for DC Universe Classics, going out on a whimper would be a disappointment to fans and Mattel alike.

And then I put it to you and asked which Doomsday would you prefer. So far, a couple hundred of you voted, and I’ve taken a look at the results – are any surprises in store?

Weekend Toy Run: Mattel Shop $20 or $50 Off Sale plus Free Shipping This Weekend Only

BATMAN POWER ATTACK™ TOTAL DESTRUCTION™ BATMOBILE® – $21.99 (on sale) – There’s nothing but rave reviews for this Batmobile, and I’ve heard that you could fit a DC Universe Classics Batman in there if you’ve got one with a cloth cape. This Batmobile would be a great repaint project, but my wife is still eyeballing me about the Batman Brave & the Bold Proto Bat-Bots I bought to repaint but still haven’t.
DC Comics Unlimited DARKSEID Figure – $15.99 – I know a lot of folks hated the proportions of this figure in the promo pics – me too, because I still haven’t bought him. But now he might not be a bad cart-filler to get that discount. Mattel Shop actually has a few of the DC Unlimited figures in stock, including Aquaman.
WWE® Elite Collection Dolph Ziggler™ Figure – $12.25 (on sale) – You know you’re old when the last wrestling you really watched was when the WWE was still the WWF, but I still found that Dolph Ziggler and the Miz were pretty entertaining when they hosted the Mattel WWE panel at San Diego Comic-Con this year. A good portion of the WWE Elite figures Mattel Shop has in stock are on sale, and they also have Hornswoggle on sale for $7.50.

Added bonus – if you hit either threshold, you also qualify for free shipping, since that clicks in when you put $25 in your cart. And if you’re still having trouble getting there – there’s always Barbie or Monster High for those female collectors in your life. Ok, or for you too – I won’t tell!

Batman: Under Siege – BillsComics.com

In honor of the Batman: Arkham Origins video game, available starting today, Bill has put together another classic comic. Batman: Under Siege pits the Dark Knight against Deadshot, Bane, and the Black Mask, and has a couple of funny easter eggs for fans of the movies, old and new.
