DC Universe Classics All-Star Green Lantern (Metallic TRU Exclusive)

I’m not a big fan of repaints, but I am a big fan of metallic paints on a figure. So when I found out that Toys “R” Us was going to be releasing a modern version of Green Lantern with metallic green paint, I knew I had to pick this one up. TRU had already started their exclusive repaints with the DC Universe Classics All-Star Batman (which I actually haven’t seen yet in my local TRU’s). This week the Green Lantern repaints finally made it into Toys “R” Us stores. Let’s have a look at him!

A few weeks back, the Four Horsemen hinted on their Fantastic Exclusive forums that they’d have some news. Today, they shared it with us. Here’s the summary, with the full press release following it:

  • Fantastic Exclusive has been reconfigured to take the new economic conditions into account, but fans will have more opportunities to get involved in the creative process, including lines outside of the normal Fantastic Exclusive format, like 7th Kingdom and the Outer Space Men.
  • Scarabus going into production in a few months, and Raven is in the design phase with sculpting underway.
  • To support this, the Four Horsemen will be launching a new website that will serve as a hub for all things Horsemen.
  • And they’ll be at San Diego Comic-Con with Action Figure Xpress at booth #4045.

Masters of the Universe Classics Tytus – It’sAllTrue.Net

I’m still bitter that I missed my chance at picking up the MOTU Classics Tytus this month – so I’m muttering under my breath as I’m linking you to Noisy’s excellent review of Tytus over at IAT.

Tytus has a very unique look that’s not quite Classics. The original Tytus wasn’t simply a scaled up vintage figure and the Classics Tytus isn’t just a scaled up MOTUC with less articulation. When I look at him overall, he almost appears more 200x than Classic, but I can’t exactly put my finger on why. He doesn’t have any of the uh, “hyper anime” flair, but his larger size does allow for more detail on the armor, some veins on the hands and arms, hammered metal details on the boots, and the intricate belt design. I imagine a 200x fan could place him with that collection and be happy. And, all the while, he still fits in just fine with the Classics. Simply put, the part of Tytus the 4H had control over is great and makes you feel the closest to getting your money’s worth.

This may not come as a surprise to those of you who know that Validus, the Collect and Connect figure that Mattel just announced for DC Universe Classics wave 15, is a big LoSH villain.

Thanks to the folks at CriticalMess for discovering the announcement. They’ve also got a nice series of articles on the Legion, for those of you looking for a primer. Great stuff!
