NECA Announces Motorized Gizmo Figures from Gremlins

I’ve stood in Toys R Us with holding the NECA Gremlins figures in my hands, but haven’t pulled the trigger yet. I thought I’d be able to show them to my wife and get the green light, but that still wasn’t enough. Perhaps a motorized Gizmo in the convertible will do the trick – that’s one of our favorite scenes in the movie.

Gizmo’s Gotta Motor

“Go Gizmo Go” Motorized Figures Coming Soon

We can’t officially advocate you getting them wet, feeding them after midnight or exposing them to bright light, but we can say your life might be more interesting if you did.

Who would’ve thought that 26 years after its original release, Gremlins would still be as much fun as the day it came out? One of the most landmark movies of the 1980s, it has grown with the generation who first loved it into a genuine cultural phenomenon.

And if we here at NECA know about anything, it’s genuine cultural phenomenons.

In that interest, we bring you a new assortment of motorized Gremlins figures, each depicting the most famous Mogwai of them all, Gizmo. Pick your poison:

All arriving in blister packaging, we’ve got Gizmo in his gift box, Gizmo standing on his own two feet, and Gizmo driving in his red convertible. Safe to say, whatever your Gizmo wishes might be, they’re covered.

Each figure features pull-back-and-go motorized action and, of course, a totally accurate and adorable movie likeness to his fuzzy self. If you think you’re up to the responsibility of owning one… you probably are (cue spooky music).

Our assortment of Go Gizmo Go figures hits stores next month and will be featured on our Amazon storefront.

NECA Predator Series 2 Press Pics

Based on Talyn’s review of the classic Predator from the first series, I want to check out some of these NECA Predators. But, they’re tough to pick up because they don’t stick around on the shelves too long.

Predators Get Even Uglier

Hunt down Series 2 while you can!

You know a space alien is awesome when not even Laurence Fishburne can outlast it. Not that the mighty Predators had anything left to prove after taking on Arnold, Danny Glover, and those ugly Aliens (twice!), but who would have guessed Adrien Brody would turn into such a formidable opponent?

I mean, seriously. The dude was in The Darjeeling Limited!

It’s a strange world, and even more so when you’ve been kidnapped and dropped from the sky onto a foreign planet only to be hunted by the most ruthless trackers in the galaxy, which is precisely the predicament the cast of Predators (which included the always-awesome Danny Trejo) found themselves in when the film was released this summer.

To honor their captors, we’ve got our brand new Predators Series 2 figures out next month. With all-new sculpts of the Berserker Predator, the Tracker Predator and a battle-damaged Classic Predator that stand over 8 inches tall each, it’s our most fearsome line of Predator figures yet!

Each of the three new Predators comes with unique weaponry and an astounding 20+ points of articulation! Not only can they slice you open with a flick of their hand, but they’re flexible too! …We should all be very afraid.

Predators Series 2 will be in stores in November, and of course, the figures will also be featured on our Amazon storefront.

Universal Licensing Deals – Mattel Gets Back to the Future and NECA Says Hello to My Little Friend

There was lots of buzz today about Mattel acquiring the rights to Back to the Future that originated, of all places, on the Shocker Toys Facebook page. Some intrepid Google searching confirmed that the deal was one among many new licensing deals for Universal. Speculation is already starting about whether this will be a MattyCollector.com line and if the Four Horsemen will be their design partner, as it is with Mattel’s other classic movie license for Ghostbusters.

Nestled within the licensing announcements was the news that National Entertainment Collectibles (aka NECA) has picked up Scarface. As much as I dig Al Pacino, I hope that we get some of the other characters in the movie. Has there been an action figure with Michelle Pfeiffer’s likeness yet?

A number of merchandise deals have been secured by Universal Partnerships & Licensing for properties including Curious George, Fast & Furious and Despicable Me.

The latest partners include:

DC Universe Online may be coming out early next year, now, but damn it, we’re still totally psyched for it! And you will be too once you peep our super-sweet cover featuring DC Direct’s statues based on the game. But inside the issue…ah, that’s where the good stuff is.

  • Learn about toys from the original Multiplayer Offline RPG with our retro look at Advanced Dungeons & Dragons toys from LJN.
  • A new story begins in Twisted ToyFare Theatre! Skeletor has a simple plan to get He-Man to reveal his identity…and it involves taking him into a dream inside a dream inside another dream! What could possibly go wrong? Find out in Part 1 of “Inceptors of the Universe”!
  • Over in Incoming, we’ve got your first look at the latest Mattel Movie Masters figure, plus more toys from Hasbro, NECA, Diamond and the (maybe not-so) shocking results of our DC Universe Classics Fan Poll!
