Toy Tokyo Art Auction to Benefit Japanese Red Cross Relief Effort

Toy Tokyo Underground, the hosts of the Four Horsemen’s Toypocalypse event during Toy Fair last month, will be hosting an art auction to benefit the Red Cross’s efforts in Japan. There’s a huge number of artists participating, including Ashley Wood from 3A Toys, sculptor Dave Cortez, and the Four Horsemen.

We send our deepest condolences to the people of Japan and those that have lost loved ones in the earthquakes and tsunamis.

In the coming weeks and months it will take the actions of non-profit organizations and thousands of volunteers to search for survivors and begin to rebuild. Toy Tokyo and TT Underground Gallery will support those efforts through a benefit auction to raise money for the Japanese Red Cross Society Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami disaster relief fund.

We will be hosting an art exhibition on April 2nd – April 3rd and will be auctioning art and items from many artists online after the event. We are kindly requesting that you help those in need by participating in the auction.

Mattel Ghostbusters Update and Toy Fair Pics

Ghostbusters (4) (1280x853).jpg

Seeing the Ghostbusters update from Mattel reminded me that I *still* haven’t finished posting everything from Toy Fair. I know – there’s just no excuse. Shown above is the Winston shown at Toy Fair. Talyn was at C2E2 this weekend and will have pics including the updated Winston up on Monday. Based on the update, it sounds like Winston might not come out in July.

Hey Ghostbusters Fans, we’re hard at work on the 2011 line and wanted to give you the latest on these upcoming figures…

Slimeblower Winston. He’ll be released this summer (date TBD). The figure shown at NYTF had the incorrect head, ungloved forearms, and gloves hanging on the belt. The figure that will be shown at C2E2 is updated, but still not final. He’ll have the correct head, gloved hands and forearms, and the corrected belt with no gloves.

12″ Ray & Egon. Scheduled for release this fall (date TBD). The NYTF version had the incorrect jumpsuits and the version at C2E2 will be incorrect as well. The final version will be tan and will have the Ghostbusters 2 patch and removable name tags. They’ll also include gray jumpsuits that will allow their suits to be interchangeable.

So that’s what we know at the moment. We’ll post updates and images as their release dates get closer.

Q: What’s Better Than Storing Your Action Figures in Big Plastic Tubs? v3

A: Actually having space to display them! 🙂

I waffled on whether to call this the third installment in a series of posts showing off the now not-so-new action figure display – because this is really not much of an update. In the first installment, I talked about setting up a new action figure display consisting of shelving cubes, after we put in new carpet. In the second, I talked about adding tap lights to that display.

For this mini-installment, I’m going to talk about running out of room, primarily in my Mattel cubes.

Gentle Giant Deadpool Statue Preview?

When I posted the Black Cat preview from Gentle Giant earlier, I mentioned the announcement from the Gentle Giant homepage – this image of Deadpool was one of the teasers. They’ve already built out the categories of Marvel products, and there’s one called “Statues w/Vehicles” – I imagine that this is going to go in that category, and it is an awesome start.

As you may know, I’ve been a fan of Deadpool and his scooter for some time now. (Please pardon the link to my “dead as that guy Deadpool shot” customs website.)
