DC Universe Classics Wave 18 – a Response by Cliff Francis

After we posted about the much-discussed rumored line-up for DC Universe Classics wave 18, we received this response from Cliff Francis. While I don’t often agree with his point of view, I do often find myself amused with how he tries gets his point across. On this topic, I think he has some interesting ideas. So, give it a read and see what you think!

No news isn’t always good news. The lack of information regarding Mattel’s upcoming plans for the DC Universe Classics line has led to a lot of anticipation, confusion, and anxiety in the collecting community. Knowing that I have a lot of contacts inside the industry, many collectors have naturally approached me to find out if I know what’s going on. To be clear: I don’t have any inside knowledge about the current state of this line. But that in itself merely adds to the mystery since I’m usually kept pretty well in the loop.

The latest rumor dumped in our laps is yet another possible character assortment for wave 18. Not long ago I gave ActionFigurePics my view on the leaked list for wave 17 and I am happy to oblige once more.

I must preface this by saying that this list HAS NOT BEEN CONFIRMED. However, unlike several other “leaked lists” for wave 18, this one has not been explicity denied by anyone at Mattel or the 4H Studios. Thus, by ommission, we shall operate under the assumption of the list’s veractiy.

So what are we getting?

The Super Friends.

Oh, how I wish they would die.

Toys for Tots Auctions – CoolToyReview.com

CoolToyReview has a set of auctions for some rare toy collectibles that will directly benefit Toys for Tots. Canonball recently did a similar auction – see Turning $20.00 into $175.00 for Toys for Tots for more info on that – and it’s a great idea. Toys get into the hands of collectors who are on the hunt, and Toys for Tots (or your favorite charity) get more than the value of the actual collectible. Everyone wins!

Here’s the CTR items:

The auctions end between December 23 and 25th – click through and bid them up!

Diamond Select Toys Thor Movie Minimates Singles

Diamond Select Toys showed off the Thor Movie Minimates 2-packs the other day, and here’s some singles. I try not to follow the movie news, so I’m not sure if this is another costume for Loki or another Asgardian god. Balder? And the older guy in the suit, no idea there. I think it’s neat that the Frost Giants can be army builders, but these are all 2-inch Minimates, right?

Available in addition to the Thor Movie Minimates 2 packs is this assortment of single pack figures. Perfect for army building!

Fantastic Exclusive Gothitropolis Scarabus Face Plates Recap

About a month ago, the Four Horsemen revealed the plethora (“Would you say I have a plethora of pinatas?”) of variants for the Fantastic Exclusive Gothitropolis Scarabus. And over the past couple weeks, they’ve been revealing various interchangeable face plates and heads that will come with these variants

It might be that the variants that come with the Egyptian-styled headset will get variant Scarabus face plates, while the ones that are full heads – the goat, ram, and the two guardsmen – will come with full Scarabus heads. This is all yet to be revealed. Regardless, there’s going to be a lot of opportunities to mix and match with this set up – should be fun!

Check out the nearly daily updates on the Four Horsemen’s website.
