Reminder: Masters of the Universe Classics She-Ra, Ghostbusters Peter Venkman, DC Universe Classics Wave 5 and More On Sale June 15

Lots of Mattel news today, but don’t forget that June 15 is the MattyCollector.com sale date. And I’m guessing with She-Ra, Keldor, DC Universe Classics Wave 5, Peter Venkman, and Lobo on sale, it’ll be a bit rough.

Use the June 15 bundle page for all sale items on one page, for easier ordering. Good luck!

AFP Ask Matty Round-Up for 6/14/10

Toy Guru was a day early with the mid-month edition of Ask Matty… or are we going to be a day late submitting questions for the next one? Thanks to him and Mattel for this round of Q&A.

1) How are the DC Universe Classics All-Star repaints like Batman and Green Lantern doing at retail? At least at the TRUs where I shop, they don’t stick around long. What are the plans to continue this past the fourth figure, and when will that fourth figure be revealed?

The TRU repaints are doing great. The fourth figure will be revealed at SDCC. We can’t confirm anything beyond that right now but hope to have news soon.

DC Direct July Solicitations – Arkham Asylum Series 2

BMAA.GROUP.jpg

DC Direct just announced their Batman: Arkham Asylum line last month, but they’re immediately back again with series 2, due out in February next year. Series 2 adds fan favorite villains Poison Ivy, Victor Zsasz, and Bane, as well as the armored-suited Batman from the Arkham Asylum Challenges.

That’s not all. DC Direct is also introducing an All-Star Superman figure set with a new Bizarro, as well as a bunch of busts and statues.

First Look – Masters of the Universe Classics Count Marzo – TheFwoosh.com

With Mattel revealing the Masters of the Universe Classics Chief Carnivus at Wizard World Philly this weekend, Count Marzo, the Club Eternia figure for July, won’t be the lone 200X character in MOTUC for long. In VeeBee’s first look, he found the styling a bit too influenced by the animated look, but I think he’ll fit in just fine with my growing Classics collection.

I really dig that Marzo can store his amulet on his belt or grip it in his hand.

He has all of this neat back story and I can tell you that he is also a great figure. From construction and engineering (I have no loose joints), to his paint – he is very well executed. His all-new cape and loincloth are cast in soft plastic so they are very flexible and his all-important amulet is made of a clear red plastic so light can shine through and when he is holding it you can actually see his hand (new sculpt) through it. I know that is subtle, but the devil is in the details like that so I tip my hat to the design team for for the little things. His loincloth also has a place to store his sword (I will get to that in a minute) as well as the amulet (on his back) and I love it when a figure can carry all of it’s allotted accessories. Really, there is a lot to like about this figure.

Wizard World Philly 2010

Wizard World Philly - Booth Babes 6 (1200x899).jpg

I didn’t go to Wizard World Philly, but because we had heard that Mattel would be introducing a new Masters of the Universe Classics figure (it turned out to be Carnivus) when the Masters line was getting inducted into the Toy Hall of Fame, I recruited my good friend Ayeffkay to go on my behalf. Here’s some pictures that he sent our way.
