Masters of the Universe Classics Beasts of Burden One Day Sale 5/1

Up to 20% off Battle Cat, Battle Lion, Griffin, and Arrow

Mattycollector MOTUC Beasts of Burden sale

Mattel is holding another one-day sale to help clear out remaining inventory. Starting tomorrow at 9AM PST, four Masters of the Universe Classics steeds will go on sale at Mattycollector. Individually, they’ll be 15% off, but if you buy three or more, the discount gets bumped up to 20% off. The scaling discount works in any combination. That means if you want to build out your flock of Griffins for Skeletor, Beast Man, and the rest of the Evil Warriors, that’s fair game. Want an army of pastel-colored horses? You have the power!

Personally, I think this opens up some options if you wanted to use Battle Lion’s armor on Battle Cat to complete a 200X style steed for He-Man, for example. It’s still a steep asking price though. Normally, Battle Cat and the Griffin are $35, while Battle Lion and Arrow are $42. The Beasts of Burden sale will go for 24 hours, ending Saturday at 9AM PST.

Note: Our email digests are sent out once a day (we don’t want to clog your inbox when we post more than that), and some subscribers can miss out on these one day only sales. Please consider following AFP on Facebook, Google+, and Twitter for more timely updates. Happy shopping!

Webswipe: NECA Unveils Con Exclusive Terminator 2 Endoskeleton – San Diego Comic-Con Unofficial Blog

Glow-in-the-dark Terminator is homage to the classic Kenner line

NECA SDCC exclusive Terminator 2 Retro Endoglow Endoskeleton

NECA is going retro with a couple of its Con exclusives. The SDCC Unofficial Blog got the first look at the Terminator 2 Retro Endoglow Endoskeleton (that’s a mouthful) which will debut at San Diego Comic-Con this July. While the packaging harkens back to the Kenner Terminator 2 line from the 90’s, the figure itself has got modern-day sculpt and articulation from NECA. Even if you’re not a fan of the GITD gimmick, it’s just a paint app that’s unnoticeable in normal light, so this figure should fit in nicely with your Terminator figures from previous NECA runs. And since Terminator: Genisys opens this July, with the iconic Terminator endoskeletons virtually unchanged from their earlier incarnations, this could be the start of your Terminator army if you don’t have one yet.

Action Figure Insider revealed the other Kenner retro exclusive – a nifty translucent Ambush Predator that includes a couple of interchangeable vac-metal masks. Both the Terminator and Predator exclusives will be available at SDCC, other regional cons, and presumably online. Terminated.

ThreeA Toys “Stormtrooper” and More up for Pre-Order

3A Toys Tomorrow Kings Lost Warrior

3A Toys has a sales event underway, aptly named, “Do You Remember?” I can remember way back in 2011, when Ashley Wood was pitching his vision for new Star Wars toys from 3A. In an uncharacteristic fashion, their prototypes for Stormtrooper and Boba Fett were straight up renditions of the characters that were devoid of Wood’s unique style. Of course, this was before Hasbro launched the Star Wars Black Series, doing it themselves.

Among the items up for pre-order now are two Stormtroopers, re-envisioned as Tomorrow Kings in the 1/6 scale. They have helmets and blasters reminiscent of Star Wars, but the rest has got the unmistakable 3A style. Additionally, there are a few Popbot 1/6 scale characters and the Robo-Hunter Same Slade from 2000 A.D. in 1/12 scale up for pre-order at Bambaland.

Border Patrol: Marvel Legends Captain America (Sam Wilson), Swordsman, and Spider-Ham

Border Patrol - Marvel Legends Sam Wilson Captain America, Swordsman, and Spider-Ham

With Avengers: Age of Ultron opening this week, I thought an Avengers-themed Border Patrol would be in order.

  • Marvel Legends All-New Captain America (Sam Wilson) by wingsstoke: There’s no telling how long Sam Wilson will be Captain America, the role he’s had in the Marvel universe since November last year – but we’ll see who wielding the shield at the end of Secret Wars starting this May. In any case, it feels inevitable that Steve Rogers will regain the Cap mantle, just as he did from Bucky, and just as Tony Stark did when Rhodey temporarily took over as Iron Man. But for the time being, Sam Wilson as Cap has brought a breath of fresh air to the role. Ends Sunday, May 3, at 12:16PM PST.
  • Marvel Legends Swordsman by JLA: Old school Avengers fans will recognize the Swordsman from back in the Silver Age. He followed the Hawkeye mold of villain turned Avenger – their backstories were intertwined. However, he never quite made the full face turn like Hawkeye did. You never were sure if he was going to go back to his evil ways, even up to his death (spoiler!) Ends Saturday, May 2, at 8:59AM PST.
  • Spider-Ham by dvil-eri: Is Peter Porker a spider with the limitations of a pig? Or a pig with the proportionate strength and agility of a spider? I suppose it doesn’t matter – Spider-Ham is too cool to have gone so long without a figure for your Legends shelf. While this custom doesn’t quite measure up in terms of Marvel Legends articulation, this founding member of the Scavengers is about the right size to fit in with the rest of your Spider-verse figures. Ends Wednesday at 2:23PM.

In AFP’s Border Patrol, we scour active eBay auctions for customized action figures that you won’t want to let slip by!
