DC Collectibles Arkham City Two-Face Flipping Coins Starting April 2014

For those of you who spotted the duo of coins covering Solomon Grundy’s eyes in the week with Solomon Grundy feature earlier this week, your guesses have been confirmed. Two-Face from Batman: Arkham City is joining the DC Collectibles line-up in April next year.

Does this mean another wave of Arkham City figures? More pics and info to come, I’m sure.

DC Collectibles Arkham City Two-Face Preview

During last week’s “Days of Solomon Grundy,” we left a clue to an upcoming 6” action figure in one of the images, and a few of you with eagle eyes were able to spot it. Grundy had two shiny coins placed over his eyes in Saturday’s image. You know which popular villain is known for using a coin, right? That’s right, Two-Face! We’re pleased to inform you that Two-Face will join his fellow Arkham City villains in April 2014.

Weekend Toy Run: AFP Toys for Tots Auction for SDCC Star Wars Black Series Boba Fett

Normally, when I have some extra goodies available I’d put them up for a Free Stuff giveaway, because it’s a great way to generate publicity for AFP. I happen to have one of the exclusive Star Wars Black Series Boba Fett, with Han Solo in carbonite here. I was lucky enough to pick one up for myself at SDCC, but when I saw them available on HasbroToyShop, I put in an order for two more. The idea was that I’d be able to get them to get them to collectors that weren’t as lucky.

One of them went to SpyMagician from Spy Monkey Creations (check out their Weaponeers of Monkaa). The other was going to go to another friend, but he managed to pick one up on his own. And while I also had it available to trade for awhile, I decided, given the rarity of the figure, to try something different. So I have Boba Fett and his Han Solo paper weight up on eBay, with a portion of the proceeds going to Toys for Tots.

It’s up with a penny starting bid, no reserve, and free shipping (U.S. only – sorry, international fans). Toys for Tots will get 25% of the proceeds right from the closing price, set up directly through eBay. The way I’ve planned it, if it closes for around what they’re going for right now, then Toys for Tots will get little chunk of change, I’ll cover the cost of the figure and the shipping and eBay fees, and a collector will get a hard-to-find exclusive. Of course, it could also go horribly wrong – but even if it goes for cheap, it’ll still be in a collector’s hands, much like if I did a Free Stuff giveaway – so that wouldn’t be so bad either.

So if you’re still looking for the SDCC exclusive Boba Fett, or just looking to help out Toys for Tots, please consider making a bid. For more pics, check out Sandman’s Boba Fett Quick Pics from SDCC. Thanks, and have a great weekend!

Ask Matty Q&A for 10/1 (a Couple Days Late and a Few Questions Short!)

A couple of things for this month’s Q&A with Mattel. First, Toy Guru has asked us to keep questions to the lines that are available through Mattycollector. So while in the past we could ask about retail lines, for now, we’ll stick to… I guess it’s Masters of the Universe Classics, plus the other odds and ends as they pop up in their online store.

Second, I did get the responses a couple of days ago, so it’s my fault we’re late!

1. We’ve always understood that extra heads were tough to do because of the tooling and paint apps required. What should we expect for pricing if you do a 200X head pack? Would six heads be in the same ballpark as the previous weapons packs?

Honestly, this is just an item we are in prelim discussion with. Any details like price and availability are so far off right now we simply couldn’t speculate!

New Details on Marvel Legends Captain America Line from Previews

SDCC 2013 - Marvel Legends - Captain America Legends Previews October 2013 - Captain America

This month’s edition of Previews has got some great new details on the upcoming Captain America waves of Marvel Legends. As we heard from the Hasbro Marvel team at San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Legends is getting rebranded to the movie properties in 2014. And just as Cap was the “First Avenger,” his line of Legends will be the first rebranded, as “Captain America: The Winter Soldier – Infinity Legends” – yeah, that’s a mouthful.

And that’s not all. Previews reports a five figure assortment split over two waves, with a Build-a-Figure, starting in January. If this is the group we saw at SDCC, then it’s comic book versions of Baron Zemo and a Marvel Now Captain America (not shown above), plus movie versions of the Winter Soldier, Black Widow, and Captain America. That leaves the BAF still to be revealed. Price per figure is still creeping up, at $22.99.

Thanks to Mark Hernandez at the Marvel Toylines group for the Previews info.

Bandai S.H. MonsterArts Aliens vs Predators Alien Warrior and Predator Wolf – Hi-Res Pics, Timing, and Price

S.H. MonsterArts AVP Alien Warrior Hi-Res 02 S.H. MonsterArts AVP Predator Wolf Hi-Res 02

A week ago we got a more in depth look at the first figures from Bandai’s S.H. MonsterArts Aliens vs. Predators license – the Alien Warrior and the Predator Wolf. Now, courtesy of Bluefin, we’ve got high-res versions of the pics, plus the timing and cost for the U.S. releases.

The Alien Warrior is arriving first, next February, for $56.99. The Predator Wolf follows in March, for $58.99. I know that’s not cheap, but with the detail, articulation, and accessories, I think these could be a great value for this class of figure. What do you guys think?
