DC Universe Classics Custom Giants of Doom – Bizarro, Sinestro, Toyman, Captain Cold, and the Riddler

Captain Cold, Toyman, the Riddler, Sinestro, Bizarro, and the rest of the Legion of Doom

The DC Universe Classics Giants of Doom entry in CustomCon 26 started with my desire for a more scale-accurate Sinestro. As that custom came together, I started feeling the pangs of nostalgia-fueled desire for a complete Legion of Doom. Thoughts for how to improve current figures (Sinestro and Captain Cold) and how to add the missing ones (Toyman, Riddler in spandex, and Bizarro in a classic style) kept forming, but I knew I would never get around to making it happen. So I did what I will probably do from now on – I recruited a dream team of customizers from AFP and the Fwoosh – Buzzy Fret, Ibentmyman-thing, and Robokillah.

Best of San Diego Comic-Con 2010 – Sandman

Here’s my top three “Best in Show” at SDCC this year!

3) Green Lantern Classics

I had not bought monthly comic books in a long time, but the Blackest Night storyline got me coming back every month when the series was still going on. Green Lantern has been on a roll lately, and with the movie coming out next year, it’s high time that Mattel finally gives this corner of the DC Universe it’s due. Seriously, the Green Lantern Corps alone could fill up a couple of waves, now that we have a rainbow spectrum of corps, there are lots more characters to choose from!

We got to see a double knee-jointed Kyle Rayner, Arkillo, Low(one of my favorite sculpts!), Maash, and Manhunters at the Con and boy do they look great. I can’t wait until they get to Atrocitus, Saint Walker and Arisia! Also this line is just full of potential army builders. You can expect collectors to pick up multiple Manhunters, and customizers to pick up multiple base bodies to create their own corps members. It’ll be an exciting time for Green Lantern toy fans next year! And woohoo for that preview Ch’p pic!

Vote for Shaggy Man in the 2010 DC Universe Fan Choice Poll

If you were wondering where the Toyfare poll for the 2010 DC Universe Fan Choice was, you’re probably in good company – it was nowhere to be found on the revamped Wizard World / Toyfare site. But thanks to you favorite search engines, I found the poll, which for the first time is to pick the Collect & Connect figure, for DC Universe Classics wave 20.

Out of the choices available, the smart money is on Nekron – he was the big bad in the recent ultra-popular Blackest Night miniseries, and anything Lantern-related is hot right now, with the potential Green Lantern blockbuster movie starring Ryan Reynolds due out next summer. If Mattel was a risk-taking company (they’re not), they would probably be tooling up old Nekron as we speak.

But I want us to show Mattel that we can make the unexpected, better choice. So I’m making an impassioned plea to you, to vote for Shaggy Man in the DC Universe Fan Choice Poll for 2010.

NECA Announces Assassin’s Creed II Ezio Figures

Robokillah picked the Square Enix version of Ezio for the Fwoosh Best of SDCC article, but if he was looking for less expensive alternatives to the Hot Toys Ezio, NECA may have just the figures.

A Real Renaissance Man

NECA’s got an Ezio for every taste

Assassin’s Creed II is one of our favorite action games ever, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to show off our two new figures of the main character, Ezio!

He might be the most enduring game nobleman since Simon Belmont, and in ACII, Ezio Auditore da Firenze is inhabited by Desmond Miles, who lives out genetic memory in Renaissance Italy from the future via the Animus 2.0. Sounds complicated, and it is, but what it rounds out to is one of the coolest and most intricate games ever, and the winner of Best Action Game at the 2009 Spike Video Game Awards.

Our figure of this highly requested fan favorite stands 7” tall and has over 20 points of articulation. Ezio is available in two different versions, Standard or Black, and each figure features retractable wrist blades and intricate, game-accurate costume design and detail.

Ezio is set to feature in the next sequel to Assassins Creed, dubbed Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, which is due November 12, 2010 from Ubisoft, and our assortment of figures ships in September and of course will also be featured on our Amazon storefront.

Best of San Diego Comic-Con 2010 – Talyn

I wasnt expecting much surprise from Marvel this year but the Sentinel in the new scale size really grabbed me. This is the giant Sentinel I have wanted since I was 11, watching the X-Men cartoon on Saturday morning. And with the new cartoon-style Cyclops coming out, they will make an awesome display.
