Mezco One:12 Collective Judge Dredd Available to Pre-Order

Mezco kicks off our weekend with a closer look at their upcoming One:12 Collective Judge Dredd. We got our first look at the One:12 Dredd at New York Comic Con. It’s great to see another look at the details, but I am still wondering how the fabric apps will hold up on the figure with more action-oriented poses. The Dark Knight Batman is further along in development, and that’s looking pretty good so far.

When we talked to Mez at San Diego Comic-Con, he said they were developing a 1/12 scale Lawmaster to go with this figure. I really hope that comes to fruition. The One:12 Judge Dredd is up for pre-order at Mezco for $65.

Toy Soul 2014 (Hong Kong): ThreeA Toys Booth Pics

3A Toys at Toy Soul 2014 (Hong Kong) 10

While we’re talking about 3A Toys, they recently shared pics of the 3A Toys booth at Toy Soul show in Hong Kong. I’ve reposted a few here, including their upcoming 1/12 scale Judge Death. It’s interesting that 2000 A.D. has a couple concurrent licensing deals. In addition to 3A, Mezco showed off their 1/12 scale Judge Dredd at NYCC. It’ll be interesting to see how much overlap there’ll be between the two licensees, both of whose figures I love.

All I can say is that neither company is making these figures fast enough for my liking, although the 3A Toys Judge Death does go up for pre-order next week. While it’s beautiful, I’m not sure if it’s a must-buy for me – I’m still plenty pleased with the Judge Death we got a few years ago in Legendary Comic Book Heroes from Marvel Toys (Toy Biz).

Mezco Shares Detailed Look at One:12 Collective Batman from The Dark Knight Returns

Mezco has shared some new high res pics of their One:12 Collective Dark Knight Returns Batman, including an “x-ray” shot that shows just how super-articulated the figure is underneath that black and gray (or dark blue and gray, for the Mezco exclusive) batsuit. This figure has been at the top of my most wanted list since Mezco introduced the One:12 Collective line at San Diego Comic-Con this year.

Are Your Action Figures Breaking Bad? Better Call Saul from Mezco

It wasn’t until the final season of Breaking Bad that Mezco started making action figures (mini-statues might be more accurate) for the show, and it wasn’t until well after the show was over that they made a figure for Walter White’s assistant, Jesse Pinkman. So I suppose that announcing a figure for Saul Goodman ahead of the start of his spinoff, Better Call Saul, is a bonus. You can pre-order the figure now with expected delivery in June 2015. Better Caul Saul premiers on AMC in February.

Mezco Presents Breaking Bad: Saul Goodman

New York- Finding yourself in a precarious situation? “‘S all good man”! We have just the right criminal… lawyer for you.

This classic character provided more than just legal loopholes and comic relief. Known for his nonchalance and questionable advice, Saul quickly won over fans worldwide. Walter and Jesse narrowly made it through their troubles with his legal counsel and now this 6″ figure can stand as a reminder when you’re in a bind, “Better call Saul!”

His pinstriped business suit is complimented by his token wireless headset and light blue Wayfarer 515 awareness ribbon. Saul Goodman comes complete with his business card in a display friendly blister card package.

Although his work with our dynamic duo is done, we know we haven’t seen the last of him just yet…

Saul is available for pre-order at: http://www.mezcotoyz.com/breaking-bad-saul-goodman

Soapbox Sunday: Breaking Bad – When a Mom Protests Your Action Figures (Almost) Everybody Wins

Last week, a Florida mom petitioned Toys R Us to stop selling Breaking Bad action figures, using the tried and true family values argument. Nearly ten thousand people voiced their support, and then Toys R Us blinked. This helped fill out an otherwise uneventful news day (if you discount the news of Ebola landing on US soil) with a story that resonated widely by bringing together pop culture and human interest angles. The story was picked up by everyone from ABC News to Zimbio.

Mainstream media came out largely in support of the Florida mom and the actions taken by Toys R Us, and this prompted fans of the TV show and action figures to protest the protest. Action Figure Insider’s Daniel Pickett launched a counter-petition, keeping the story in the news cycle for another revolution. The petition to keep Breaking Bad on toy shelves has garnered over forty thousand signatures, but despite this, TRU has not reversed its actions. This leads me to today’s topic: who actually won this fight?

You might be surprised (if you already forgot the title of this article) – almost everyone comes out ahead.
