NECA Announces Assassin’s Creed II Ezio Figures

Robokillah picked the Square Enix version of Ezio for the Fwoosh Best of SDCC article, but if he was looking for less expensive alternatives to the Hot Toys Ezio, NECA may have just the figures.

A Real Renaissance Man

NECA’s got an Ezio for every taste

Assassin’s Creed II is one of our favorite action games ever, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to show off our two new figures of the main character, Ezio!

He might be the most enduring game nobleman since Simon Belmont, and in ACII, Ezio Auditore da Firenze is inhabited by Desmond Miles, who lives out genetic memory in Renaissance Italy from the future via the Animus 2.0. Sounds complicated, and it is, but what it rounds out to is one of the coolest and most intricate games ever, and the winner of Best Action Game at the 2009 Spike Video Game Awards.

Our figure of this highly requested fan favorite stands 7” tall and has over 20 points of articulation. Ezio is available in two different versions, Standard or Black, and each figure features retractable wrist blades and intricate, game-accurate costume design and detail.

Ezio is set to feature in the next sequel to Assassins Creed, dubbed Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, which is due November 12, 2010 from Ubisoft, and our assortment of figures ships in September and of course will also be featured on our Amazon storefront.

McFarlane Announces Halo: Reach Warthog and Ghost Vehicles

I’ve been jonesing for the Warthog ever since McFarlane made the Mongoose set. I never got past the second game in the Halo franchise, but the Reach Warthog is close enough for me. Very cool!

Video Game Vehicles Drive into Stores This Fall

You’ve seen Halo: Reach Series 1, from the Comic-Con exclusive to the full assortment. You’ve seen the single figures, the two-packs, and the four-pack. But there are still two items Reach fans have been waiting to see: the most popular UNSC vehicle and the most iconic Covenant vehicle. That’s right — it’s time to reveal the Warthog and the Ghost. Enjoy the photos!

Warthog with Light Anti-Aircraft Gun
As recognizable as Master Chief himself, the UNSC Warthog has been featured in every Halo game. This large, Jeep-like vehicle can carry up to three five-inch Halo figures into battle. This version features the classic Light Anti-Aircraft Gun turret. Play action includes rolling wheels, turning steering wheel, spinning gun turret, and elevating Light Anti-Aircraft Gun.

Ghost Rapid Assault Vehicle
The Ghost vehicle has been in every Halo game, and is a definite fan-favorite. This small, one-man enemy vehicle is the perfect antagonist for the Warthog deluxe vehicle. Features pivoting nose guns, moving wing flaps, rotating grip controls, and a sliding seat to accommodate figures of various sizes.

Halo: Reach Series 1 Vehicles will be in stores everywhere by October.

Poll: Would You Buy DC Universe Classics Characters You Already Had If They Were Re-released with Updated Articulation? – Round 2

DSCN5452.JPGWave 16 - Robin (1) (901x1200).jpgWave 16 - Creeper (1) (900x1200).jpgGreen Lantern (8) (901x1200).jpgGreen Lantern Classics - Kyle Rayner new articulation (901x1200).jpgGreen Lantern Classics - Kyle Rayner new articulation (1) (902x1200).jpg

After reading our San Diego Comic-Con 2010 – Mattel DC Universe Classics – Updates, AFP reader chisd made this comment about the updated articulation we saw:

Mattel, if ur listening, please……the wave 16 robin is soooo fine, with the extra articulation and all that stuff. BUT please, do not make the following waves (wave 17, 18, 19…) and the re-issues the same articulation with wave 16 robin. If you do that ALL our previous collections (wave 1,2,3,4…) MUST all be replaced with the “new trend” of these articulations. We dont wanna re-buy new batmans, supermans, etc just to be abreast with the new Dick Grayson robin. If you do that, it will be a burden to us collectors. It means we have to collect again. I just wish we could finally end our collections with the same line and same articulations. I have many collections already. I aint that rich.

A couple months ago, after Sandman showed off his Jaime Reyes Blue Beetle, we ran a poll asking if you would buy DCUC figures you already had if they were re-released with updated articulation. The results were interesting. Over 1/4 of voters said definitely no. A little less than that, over 1/5 said definitely yes. The remaining folks said it would depend.

Now that we’ve seen more prototypes feature double-jointed elbows and knees, and hinged wrists, it’s time to ask the question again. If you voted in the previous poll, you won’t be able to vote again. So if you’ve changed your mind, or just feel strongly about the articulation updates, leave a comment below.

Mattel San Diego Comic-Con Exclusives on Sale on 8/2

Don’t forget – Monday at Noon EST, Mattel’s exclusives from San Diego Comic-Con go on sale on MattyCollector.com. Here’s the link to the bundled page.

Orko and Plastic Man sold out at the show first, and I imagine some people who got Orko at SDCC will be trying for this version too, because it doesn’t have the semi-translucent appearance that the Con-only color-change version does. Good luck!

San Diego Comic-Con 2010 – DC Universe – Funko Force 2

Sector1014 reports in with some coverage from San Diego Comic-Con with some urban vinyl DC figures from Funko that we missed completely. Also, be sure to check out his primer on Kamandi: The Learn-to-Love-Him Article (I did, and you can too). DC Universe Classics wave 14 should be out soon.

SDCC DC Funko Force 2

One of the best things about going to Comic-Con is finding cool things you’ve never seen before.  On Thursday morning I made my way through Funko’s booth and found a new line of DC Universe figures that was a pleasant surprise.  According to the guys at the booth, they’re part of a brand new DC Universe line in a new format for Funko called Funko Force 2.0. There were four con exclusives to kick start the DC line (a glow-in-the-dark Green Lantern, two versions of Batman, and a Batgirl–it’s just the paint decos that are exclusive to SDCC, as each of these characters will have regular versions):
