WebSwipe: Hot Toys Iron Man Armored Whiplash and Mark 42 – OneSixthWarriors.com

Hot Toys Iron Man 2 Whiplash Hot Toys Iron Man 3 Mark 42

The folks at OSW found a magazine preview of two upcoming Hot Toys releases – the armored Whiplash from Iron Man 2 and the Mark 42 armor from Iron Man 3, which opens in the US on May 3. With the DieCast logo, the initial thinking was that both figures would be part of the new sub-line, but it may be that only the Mark 42 will be diecast, while Whiplash will be in the more affordable main line.

As much as I love Mickey Rourke (he was an awesome Marv in Sin City) I found his Ivan Vanko, and the rest of IM2, a bit flat. So I skipped the first Whiplash from Hot Toys, but I will be pretty tempted to pick this one up. After all, anything armored from Hot Toys Iron Man turns out pretty damn cool.

Hot Toys Reveals First Diecast Figure – Iron Man 3 Iron Patriot

Hot Toys Iron Man 3 Iron Patriot 1

Hot Toys has announced the first in its Diecast line of figures – the Iron Patriot from Iron Man 3. I am not sure whether this line is a competitive response to other diecast 1/6 products, like those of Singapore’s Play Imaginative, or just a natural line extension into an even more premium product. Either way, with increased shipping weight and more expensive materials, I am curious how these will be priced.

The Iron Patriot will have light-up features and a removable face plate revealing Rhodey (with Don Cheadle’s likeness, not yet finalized) but not much else – I wonder if they reduced the number of features to help keep the cost down. We’ll have to wait for pre-orders from Sideshow and others to get the full picture.

First of ThreeA Toys TKLUB Tomorrow Kings, Oroshi 18, Available for Pre-Order on 3/27

OROSHI1web tlklub2013

The first figure in the Tomorrow Kings Klub (aka TKLUB) will be available for pre-order in a week’s time. Assuming it opens up at 9AM Hong Kong time on 3/28, that means a 9PM EST time start in the US. Originally touted as a one strike and you’re out program – once you didn’t buy a figure you would not be able to buy any future club figures – eventually 3A loosened that with an incentive program.

The first incentive is an “Art of TK mook,” which I can only assume is a typo for book. To qualify for the book, you have to buy Oroshi 18 and two more figures – which ones are yet to be revealed. I think I’m in for Oroshi but will wait to see what comes next.

The TKLUB is for 3AA members only – I know a few folks who chose not to re-up this year, but forgot that one of the incentives to sign up for 3AA was this club. We’ll have to see what the order limits are – I know a lot of Legionnaires will want to help each other out, but this has the earmarks of a flipper’s paradise.
